Friends of The Exotica Rare Fruit Nursery,
This updates the blog post and sent out
this morning entitled
Fate of Rare Fruit Tree Legacy to be Determined 11-19 at Vista Court House.
Some of the financial figures have changed.
The positive side is that we have more time.
An agreement between Steven and the trust for own
Paul Pancritius will be signed Wednesday.
Just off the phone with Steve Spangler.
I will update you all asap.
Steven signs an agreement Wednesday to pay back rent and expenses
to about 150K. He needs to raise $2600.00 by December 1 and another by January 1.
He has 90 days to raise back rent of 150K. He would like to set in motion a purchase
for the asking price of $500,000.
On Thursday, he still goes to court at 8:10 AM.
I am going up there, and then to the ERF Nursery.
Later in the day, I am going over to Scripps to walk the land where
a healing garden has been invited. As of now, Stephen will go with me
and be an advisor on the project.
I rounded up three potential sales today, one that will be confirmed.
I set in motion two others.
Read this Plant Your Dream blog Here.
I will have photos up in 30 minutes.
The next leg of the journey
will be to secure $2500.00 by December 1.
I do not see this as a problem.
We will launch the Food not Lawns
Holiday program that will
ask our community to purchase live fruit trees
rather than cut pine trees.
I am asking each member of the Friends of
Exotica Rare Fruit Nursery to go to the
Facebook Cause site and enlist.
We will be communicating through that vehicle
as well.
I would like each friend of the farm to get three
signups of stores and or individuals who will place orders
now. Please list all updates on the Friends of Exotica
Rare Fruit Nursery Site.
The biggest Order I secured today was
with BEET KEEPER Sponsor BILL TALL
of City Farmer Nursery. See photos on this link
by 8:30 PM November 17. I gave Bill the sheet with
prices. He said he will order trees asap.
I have three of the trees in the EG Mobile.
Get a tree now and put carry it with you.
Take photos of those who you tell about the project.
Direct everyone to the this blog
to get the overview of the project.

The next underscore will be at each point thank the generousity
of PAUL PANCRITIUS and family, and send good will for his health.
he is the current owner of the three acres in question.
He currently has a cancer issue. I intend to make contact and would like
to visit Paul before long. It was through his good will that
Steven saved the ERFN in 2002.
Our goal will be to raise the 150 K back rent asap and then proceed
into the raising of the $500,000 to pick up the option to buy.
The videos of Steven are wonderful on the videos he gave me.
I am going to explore what it will take to put one on Youtube.
The Videos on the DVD make a wonderful add on item to fundraise
for this project that I am calling
Exotica Rare Fruit Blooming.
The intent will be to see business bloom and boom,
sez, KEEP The BEET Media Star, The World's First talking beet plant.
To learn more about Keep the Beet visit the

I also shot video of the Roots meeting.
I will be putting up some Youtubes soon.
I am invited to create a Healing Garden at Scripps Center of
Integrative medicine. My office birthday is November 19, and I
am wanting to visit the Exotica Rare Fruit nursery as well
as walked the Scripps site on that day. I celebrate
Enchanted Garden Birthday month that kicks off on the 19th.

I talked to steven for a while tonight. Looks lke if he can find $2600 by Dec 1st that they will give him an extension. If he can keep paying this every month he can have a 3 month extension. On the downside it appears the actual back rent on the property is closer to 150K. To help Steven out i think he needs a brainstorming meeting this week with people who care. Maybe before next Monday.
Wed. morning he has to make a decision if he will accept the extension and new terms or if he wants to try bankruptcy court.
What do you think?

Stephen,
Heather from TreePeople recommended I contact you regarding this urgent need.
I am an activist, teacher in the community, social entrepreneur, and California Student Sustainability Coalition Alumni.
At a San Diego Roots Sustainable Food Project meeting last night a man Stephen Spangler of Exotica Rare Fruit Nursery pleaded for help in saving his nursery.
The details are below in the Press Release, as well as this article click here
This is not my land, nor do I have vested interest. This crisis of urgent need, is compelling to people who care about trees and the people they affect. I realize you have a host of other issues to worry about, I am hoping this can get some attention immediately.
Thanks kindly,

Exotica Rare Fruit Nursery faces eviction. This will result in the loss of rare of rare fruit tree and plant varieties from around the world. Notice to Quit served, and trial Thrusday November 19th, 2009. Need of immediate intervention.
Escondido, Ca - Stephen Spangler and our community are about to endure the loss of his life’s work of the past 20 years. San Diego will lose a unique local farm and extremely rare fruit tree and other plant varieties.
On a 5 acre once desolate plot in the unique climate of Vista, California, Exotica Nursery has created an oasis, Garden of Eden like setting, with over 1200 varieties of organically grown rare, heirloom, and endangered fruits, including vines, palms, and bamboos. From Makepeace apples to Ecuadorian Black walnuts, Steven notes his 7 varieties of cherries, at least 16 varieties of figs, 16 varieties of guavas, 17 varieties of palm, and over 100 varieties of pomegranates.
While most Californians are accustomed to one variety of mangoes from Mexico, Steven grows over 8 different varieties. His conservation efforts include varieties that may be extinct outside of this nursery. The plants on the property have been valued at a total of $1.3 million. And this only scratches the surface of Exotica’s offerings.
Stephen is a soft spoken gentle man, who resembles the peaceful trees he has sought out around the world and provided nuture and nourishment to for the past 27 years who desperately and immediately needs:
Money in the short-term - $150,000 to cover back rent and legal fees
Letters of intent to purchase/partner with Stephen Spangler
A lawyer
A business partner for the long run
To be able to survive Exotica needs intervention by Thursday, November 19, 8:10am where he is due at the Vista Courthouse to decide his fate.
Can you help?
