Those of you with more time, here's my blog:
I first came across juice fasting when I read about a British celebrity (Jordan) who did it to aid her in losing weight. I bought my first juicer in early 2006 which was only £20 (c.$34). Needless to say it wasn't that great and it made a mess everywhere. I was amazed however at the brilliant taste of some of these juices. I tried out a couple before finding a few favourites.
I decided to get a better juicer when I wanted to do a proper fast. As I was getting married back then I told my boss what I would like as a wedding gift. So it was quite nice that they invested in a Philips juicer for me (cost - £100 ($170)). My husband loved the gift as well as he is naturally quite healthy. I use this juicer as often as I can.
I embarked on a juice fast a week before my wedding. Probably the worst time to do it in case I fell apart or got acne or something, but I became quite desperate in trying to lose weight before the big day. I cannot remember how much I lost but I was down to 9 stone (126 lbs) for the wedding in August 2006, which was fantastic, but shortlived as I didn't actually break the fast properly, and didn't change my eating habits.
Fasting does assist weight loss, but I know better than to completely rely on it. We all need to exercise and eat better if we are to maintain a healthy weight. Easier said than done!
I will in the next few weeks have a few social events and I know I will be asked why I am not eating properly, and as the advice on these forums go, I do not want to alert anyone to the fact that I am juice fasting as it creates a whole load of unnecessary drama. I will allocate a date in the next blog, and will probably start off with a 1-day fast, a break, then a 3-day fast, a break, then a 5-day fast etc, eventually reaching 21-days.
I am looking forward to seeing a better me in the mirror, to seeing a better complexion in the mirror, and to be happy with the way I look. Don't get me wrong, I'm not too unhappy at present, but it's like I'm okay with a 'B' or a 'C' when I can get an 'A', so why am I not reaching for it?! Life is too short and we should not waste any time looking the best we can as we will regret it when we are older!
Okay guys, said enough here, in the next entry, I will confirm a date, give you my accurate weight/measurements etc, and then we'll go from there!
Catch you next time,
A
