Up with some Visions for the EGIC,
and the Table at the Local Vendor's Day
Whole Foods Market Hillcrest, April 5, Noon-3 PM.
The hours. Noon to 3 PM go by in a flash.
What do I want to have on the table that
Ray Kau will let me set up?
Enchanted Garden-Whole Foods Collaborations 2008
Season
Dear Ray,
I want to thank you, Ray, Caroline, and staff at Whole Foods Market Hillcrest
and the So Pacific Region for collaborations and support of Enchanted Garden Projects
during the last number of years.
The Local Vendor Day April 5, Noon to 3 AM, is an opportunity
for me to express that thanks as well as take the next Organic Step
between us.
I will create a Mini Enchanted Garden Installation, a beautiful table
of container gardens in reused pots donated by the GoldMine Natural Food
Company, one of our vendors.
Surrounding the yellow containers will be some of the products recommended
by Your Enchanted Gardener that are currently being sold in WFM Hillcrest gardening
section.
I will have some of the seeds customers can purchase to sprout that
are sold in WFM, as well as show
a handful of seeds in the rack in the garden section, that can be container gardened.
I will also have on display some of the products I am recommending to WFM
Regional and national for inclusion in our garden section.
Among these will be Rhimax chemical free organic paper, that comes in rolls
and proposed 8 1/2 x 11 sheets. I use these sheets now to make the labels
that appear on the container gardens...and say, Enchanted Garden Growing Here.
Plant a Seed. Grow a Whole New World.
I will also be giving away--Job's Tear seeds to the Kids with instructions
on how they can grow their very own necklaces. I will have a pot
showing the Job's Tears Growing.
The Seed Packets are an item in process that I will be submitting
to So Pac Regional this year to be sold in Body Care.
The Label will include words;, Seeds of LIfe Fulfillment. Plant a Seed. Grow A Whole New World.
Plant Your Dream! Grow a necklace. Grow Your Dream Job!
This Grow a Necklace
is the work I will be doing at the Children's Museum of Temecula on April 19,
for Earth Day.
I will have on the Enchanted Garden table
a notebook called The History of Peace on Earth. Garden Management Journal.
This will show photos from Enchanted Garden-Whole Food
activities that include the push in 2006 to bring the Joe Rodriguez Jr.
locally grown strawberries fresh picked into the Hillcrest store,
photos of the wreath on the Podium at pacific Symposium 06 donated
by Whole Foods HIllcrest, some photos of the Earth Day 06 that we did together
at the San Diego Earth Fair, photos from the World Environment Day in Tecate
helped with a contribution from the region, a showing of the ad we did last year
that was in the Earth Fair Newspaper; and the photo that hangs in the Support
Local Farmers display that is now in the produce section of our store.
I will also show some photos from the visit of the Conscious Goods Alliance Bus
that visited WFM Hillcrest/La Jolla as well as the Enchanted Garden Intentional Community,
my home, last year when they were in town.
I will be promoting a few 2008 Enchanted Garden Projects through some books
I will display on the table.
Some of these books are already sold in the WFM Hillcrest.
I will have a flyer with a photo of Dr. Bernard Jensen (1908-2001)...
that will say LOCAL GROWN. This year, there is going to be a three
day conference celebrating his Centennial, June 6,7,8.
I am proposing support from WFM regional for this conference.
I will talk to Michael about that one.
I will show some of the books in the story that we have
from Dr. Jensen, including his Bowel Management Book.
I will have a few other books by Dr. Jensen that I wrote
that I would like in the local store, if we can work this out.
These include Health Magic Through Chlorophyll through Living Plant Life,
and Survive This Day. These books describe Dr. Jensen's Magic Survival Kit
for where he touts chlorophyll, seeds, berries, and sprouts as vital foods for
total health. I would also like to see Empty Harvest, that addresses the link
between our food, our immunity, and our planet's soil.
I will have some flyers I will hand out for the upcoming conference.
I would also like a flyer promoting the upcoming visit dates
of the Conscious Goods Alliance Bus.
I am proposing a mini garden workshop at the Enchanted Garden Intentional Community,
my shared home, for the late afternoon when they visit, and a time with the travelers in my garden.
More details on this will follow.
The Enchanted Garden Projects 2008 include:
A Nation of Gardeners.
in my role as Your Enchanted Gardener,
I am asking that each person enter Plant Parenthood.
One Plant+One Person+One Soul-Filled Seed Dream Growing in Soil=More Enchanted Garden on Earth.
The Enchanted Garden is a name for our Renewed Earth that we can each grow
organically in our own backyard, one Seed and Seed Dream at a time.
I will be showing a few Container Gardens with various plants that our customers
can grow themselves. One Pot per customer. Entering Plant Parenthood,
will help grow the Enchanted Garden.
I will be giving away some of the Green Pet Tip cards from the Pet Promise
folks.
I will be calling attention to the Organic Center Mission to increase organic
usage to 10 % by 2010. We are now around 4%.
Enchanted Garden Projects with farming in 2008
will go toward encouraging collaboration between local farmers
and creating a public awareness of the need to support
all our remaining local farmers.
I want to draw attention to the water cutbacks
in our region that are cutting back the amount of locally grown organic food
our farmers are allowed to grow. I will be working out a public awareness
campaign to draw attention to this regional problem.
I will give away a link to a writing called Farm Report with suggestions.
to this problem.
I will be writing about solutions to the water cutback.
and asking questions as far as our regional direction
re: supporting local organic growing in So Cal.
Every Unit Counts: Can foods that
go unsold at the Sunday Farmer's Market be sold
that day at Whole Foods Market Hillcrest Mini Farmer's Market?
What can we do about the water regulations?
Is it wise for our region to have farm land?
What others ways can we support our local farmers?
What other ways can WFM support our local organic farmers?
Is legislative action necessary?
How can we increase our individual connections with food growing?
The Enchanted Garden says:
Be intimate with the person growing your food. Garden.
Know the Farmer growing the rest of your food.
