Day #5 and no cheating and it is getting easier to stay raw -- thank goodness, because now I may have to face not being able to obtain dandelion leaves for a while or off and on as I am mudded-in now -- too much mud to walk anywhere or drive anywhere in my tiny car. I can get others to pick up things for me at the store but I cannot get them to pick dandelion weeds for me, haha.
Since reflecting on the nature of addiction seems to strengthen my resolve for staying all raw I watched that same program on addiction again yesterday.
What addicts don't see is how much their addiction is taking away from their emotional life and things that make life meaningful to them. And the more it does, the more they turn to their addiction to feel better.
The fear of being without the good feelings (obtained from the addiction) is very strong for the addicted person.
Addicts have self-deception down to a fine art. They will risk almost anything to continue their behavior...[yet] they will look at you in the eye and say 'It's not that bad'. For the lucky ones, a moment of clarity comes where they say, "I don't want to live like this anymore."

Different downsides and risks come with different addictions. With food addiction, there is the risk of death (if played out through anorexia or bulimia). For millions of Americans, its obesity, looking unattractive and higher risk for many if not all of the most deadly and/or debilitating health problems.
