More About Addiction
I think this helps me...

Shoot, it took me so long to set up this blog entry I have already lost out of my head a few great quotes about addiction. But they were basically about how huge the denial is, and that's why people need to suffer so much that the suffering from the addiction is even worse than the suffering to be had during recovery.
I know for myself I always figured that my junky food addiction (and overeating that goes with it) was something only *I* would suffer from, but I am realizing that that is not true. We all affect all the others we interact with every day. I have been the opposite of an inspiration in so many ways, and if I were to continue my cooked/processed/junk/animal/chemicalized food addiction I would become pretty much bedridden (as I still am some hours each day due to the great pain in my feet) and become a burden on others, become more and more depressed, and for my son it would be as if he lost his mother. On the other hand, by kicking this addiction I could become fully ambulatory again and life my life to the fullest; it would be as if my life has only just begun.
Here's to New Beginnings.
I'll keep this blog open before publishing for a while in case anymore really cool addiction quotes come up. That way I'll be able to type them before they fall out of my head! I am feeling that I should really study more about addiction. I think this is helping me get clear.
They say that overeating is the hardest addiction to overcome because one cannot simply stop eating. I think for me (and many, many others) starting to eat only raw vegan food IS the same thing as stopping eating -- at least the eating that feeds addiction. And even more people have no idea about this. Once raw food is much more understood and accepted in our society, I'm sure there will be a lot more support for those who really need it (like me).
Oh. Here's a quote:
"She no longer acts on her addiction, but it will always be with her."
Interestingly, one sex addict on this show said that if she suddenly had no sex for a period of time (days or weeks) she would start eating more...
"Many addicts are unaware of the extent of their problem."
"Some psychologists believe that addiction is the biggest threat to health in the Western world."
"It can be despairing, but the reality is there are so many people out there who are in such agony..."
