I do not know about Canada, however I understand Mexico (this was three or four years ago) was muscled by the US into NOT selling pharmaceuticals in US (identical to what you would buy in the US) labeled bottles. Now you go there and buy products with the Spanish labels... it my be the same drug, and may not be, you just do not know. My dad took Quinine for leg cramps a long time till they quit selling it in the states (or made it very difficult to find). I think you may be able to find quinine in some beverages and if you look hard enough in a backwoods drug store. I think you can also find quinine as part of a "leg cramp" formula OTC as well.

So,

He then started having one of us kids pick him up a years supply or so when we went to Mexico and you could buy the same product they took off of the OTC market here till three years ago for about 1/4th the price, when the US tried to stop the practice of US citizens crossing the border to purchase meds. These days, you have to brush up on your Spanish, read labels and accept "bottled in Mexico" or you are stuck buying drugs in the US for exorbitant prices.

I think anything known to work around the pharmaceutical drug cartel is slowly being clamped down on... "they" want your money.
