I read a really inspiring story awhile back about a woman who was a heavy drinker for years--even owned a bar! She was quite health-conscious too. (which seems like a contradiction, but as you know, both sides can live in the same person, and if you're lucky, the desire for health wins out.)
Anyway, to make a long story short, she discovered rejuvelac. She wanted to be whole! She started to make it, and then started to juice wheat grass. Both these things helped her so much, she began to introduce them into the bar.
Soon, she had the reulars drinking the wheatgrass, and chasing it with the rejuvelac she made -- which tastes like a sort of slightly fizzy lemonade, or is described by some as beinglike a chardonnay, only better! and she added ginger to it. People loved it. The thing is, it completely killed her desire for alcohol, and it is so fortifying: full of good probiotics--(which the alcohol and meat will have depleted)
You might look into it. If you do decide to make it...don't be put off if your first attempts don't seem good. There are different kinds, made of different grains...
keep trying.
for an intro, google Dom in Australia. He writes about all sorts of probiotic foods like kefir and rejuvelac...
I think the woman trurned the bar into a health bar. Strated grwing wheat grass and serving and selling rejuvelac.
