Wow. I did not know this! I cannot imagine that at all. It would be hard to live another day knowing you ran over your own child. It would be a nightmare, no doubt, that I would remember every day and every night for the remainder of my life. ;(
I have been very upset by how much I cannot see, as another driver, when an SUV is in the lane next to me in front of a traffic light. They are so big and high it blocks my vision. Hopefully Americans will get the feel for energy conservation soon and let go of the need for the high-horsepower machismo on the road too.
I drive a little 3-cylinder Geo Metro. It's hard on the engine to go over 65 mph, so I don't. Living in the State of Texas, most drivers on the highways are big on speeding -- or going at least the 70 mph minimum speed limit on many of the highways. It just drives 'em crazy if I slow them down even for 30 seconds. I try to stay out of the way of others, and slow down and drive on the shoulder so others can pass, which happens quite frequently. I sense their disdain for my lower horsepower, but I'm the one laughing all the way to the back, with an average gas mileage on the highway nearing 50 mpg. Smart cars never made it here in the U.S. in the past, coz everyone wanted bigger and faster. Mine isn't a smart car, but I think it's a very intelligent one, and I love the little thing -- even though I can't see around all the big guys.
Disclaimer: Please do not be offended if you drive a large vehicle. I'm just writing to express my own personal feelings and not to make judgments on you or anyone else. And I do know that some people really and truly do feel they need very large vehicles -- and some really do need it. Add This Message To Your CureZone Favorites!
