But you're absolutely right, if a work or movement is truly of the Holy Spirit, money won't be an issue. Jesus said "where your treasure is, there will your heart be also", and if people's hearts are involved in something, that's where the money will go. Church leaders frequently get it all backwards.

I believe also that giving is where God puts my heart, although as I said earlier I feel obligated to support the church I attend as long as I still use "the facilities". But they don't get a significant amount anyway, because I support the AIG Creation Museum whenever possible. I also donate old household items instead of having a garage sale (too lazy anyway) because so much has been given to me. (I could always have the sale and then just give the money away, but I think I'd be too tempted to keep "just a little").
