The "fact" that a majority of women do not have cllmax during intercourse alone is no surprise. Most women need a lot more than mere vaginal stimulation to experience cllmax--like direct clitoral stimulation either orally or digitally (fingers--either their own or their partners), stimulation of breasts, kissing, affection, not to mention being unhurried to have intercourse--and these are just the mechanics of sex.
Scientists are off the beam on why women have cllmaxs--whether they expouse an "evolutionary" approach to female cllmax or a "developmental one" as in the book reviewed, that would make the clitoris a mere "left-over" penis.
How about a spiritual reason? That female pleasure and male pleasure during love-making serves a higher spiritual purpose, and cllmax is one of the ways for a loving couple to "get to God" or whatever you want to call it--Spirit, the Divine, Nirvana, Heaven, whatever. From my experience, it takes both a skilled lover and a very close emotional and spiritual bond with one's partner in order to attain this level of spiritual experience.
