Yes it is scary.... if people really knew what databases there are on us they would really freak out.... Most of the data is incomplete and mostly not very accurate... Having worked intelligence, i used to think, " what is the real truth???"
It is a best guess for the most part... But every now and then they get it right... The best of course is inter company records of recent purchases... Other than that would not give them much crediance....
As far as James Gleick's style he seems a little top heavy on his vocabulary; while i get it, most people who have an average of 8th grade English do not.... Seems to ramble a bit, but over could follow... and that is good for many of the writers today... Overall not a favorite, but not dibious..... Add This Message To Your CureZone Favorites!
