Then, I called my Father.
I got the same %¤#&!§-
I have been getting most of my life.
I tell him I am here to see him.
I would like to do that tomorrow.
He tells me that work has not called so
he will likely be home.
I tell him that he is getting to the point
in his life where he had better make it a priority
to put his own son above his work.
He has never done that.
A few weeks ago, during my 40th High School Reunion,
I had this epiphany that I was going to do some healing
with him.
So I tell him, that I if work calls,
I want him to tell them that his son is here
and this is his priority to see me above working today.
I tell him that he is getting to the place in his life
where he may not be long for this world.
I tell him that if he does not spend time with me
do not expect me to be praying three times a day for him
once he leaves the body.
In his Orthodox tradition, this is the custom.
The irony is that this is the work my father does for
other families...pray for them when they have no one
to fulfill these customs...
and here I would not do this for my own father
when he has been doing this for others all his life.
The rub is that he has never placed me above his work
and I am pissed about this.
