My daughter married a "coastie." Only to have her life reduced to nothing for HIS. She was very young and believed he was the ONE.

The faux marriage lasted about five years. She, too, was miles away from family/friends. He up and decided he needed to be a hero and could only succeed by volunteering to go to Afghanistan. She could "go back home." (She had just signed on for full classes at university. she had only a part-time job).


Listening to her on the phone or via the computer brought many of my own issues to light. It was almost as if she were talking about MY spouse (her father) when telling me things her husband did/said.

She came back home after finishing a two year degree (all by herself) and went back to finish her degree in management. All the while listening to me vent and stepping between me and my abuser - her father!

I was granted the divorce this past August. She bought a home for us both. We are basically hiding from him (he threatened her with law suits).

Thank you for all this, all your feelings, your experiences -- Everything. So many things parallel to my own. I have become a follower, for sure.

I am happy to be free of him, his enabling family and even some of my own. Free to start the work of healing.

The quest of being WHOLE.
