First, thank you for sharing and attempting to inform people of the dangers of mold illnesses. I found this post while searching for possible solutions to my chronic cough and post nasal drip.
I have had a chronic cough since last summer 2011. It has gotten worse over the months; I cannot lay down without coughing. I cannot get up in the morning without coughing. I can't talk without suffering a bout of coughing. I cannot eat without suffering a bout of coughing. When I get into these strong bouts, I won't stop until I spit up some fluid. It's not even bile or stomach contents; it's as if the drain from the post nasal drip collects in my throat somewhere, until it gets to critical mass, and then I will cough until I spit it up. I originally thought is was allergies escalating with old age, until allergy season was over and I was still coughing.
Then I remembered that it was this past summer that I began cleaning out my sun parlor that has been used as a storage room for all my work files - paper, boxes, old computer equipment, books, etc., piled all over the place. In addition, the windows are extremely leaky...When I started clearing away the boxes, I noticed that the wall under one of the windows was water damaged. I cleaned it the best I could, and made sure I had on a mask, head covering, and clothing that I took off right in the bathroom before moving around the house. I really think the mold is the problem I stirred up when cleaning up that room.
Some of the websites I have read - Mercola.com, and others, allude to vitamin D therapy in alleviating the illness and symptoms. Plenty of (safe exposure to) sunlight is the primary source of vitamin D production in the body; supplements if necessary. I believe you wholeheartedly; our immune systems in general have deteriorated to the point that we cannot effectively fight the normal existence of pathogens as we should.
I will be getting off of my computer more often, and getting more sunshine, along with increasing my intake of supplemental vitamin D, as well as whole food sources. In my case, I will also try using the neti pot for cleansing my sinuses, as it appears that is where most of my problems are generated. Good luck on your journey to health.
