I have glaucoma. In one eye. I guess that means I only have fear on one side of my body or brain? I am having surgery this week because medications are no longer controlling my pressure -- this will be a repeat of surgery I had over 30 years ago. That procedure is failing. If you try and tell me that this is due to my emotional state or emotions, I will tell you that you are full of it.

You and Louise Hay. She's got a hook -- a gimmick. Also my therapist, who thought I might benefit from hearing what Hay says about my condition. To write her book, Hay had to say something about every disease she could think of or find. I"m sure she devoted all of 20 minutes to each one -- which trumps the years that my doctor has spent studying my disease. Because glaucoma is related to pressure of one kind, she makes the facile, obvious connection to emotional pressures. I'm sure I'd find it laughable to see what she writes about other conditions which it probably took more work to come up with a plausible emotional linkage.

If you love self-help books, I'm sure Louise Hay's encyclopedic approach almost seems scientific, instead of the crass, commercial mumbo-jumo it really is.
