I am sorry for what happened to you in "the name of God". I used to attend a church that held the same views... and I was kicked out when I told them that it seemed to me that if you did not possess a penis that God would not use you. I AM glad, however, that my husband knew what it meant to be "the head" of the woman. He believes that this means that he is to esteem me and provide for my every comfort... spirit, soul, and body. And, that when he does, it will bring about the best ME that I can be.... and so far, he has been right. Being treated with dignity, equality, and gentleness has gone a long way toward me becoming a "better" me. I honor my husband daily... but not in that doormat way that some believe we should. I do the same things as others do for their husbands, but I do it from a place of love and desiring to serve rather than a place of subservience and dominance. Wanting to do things for him is what HE has done by what HE believes the scriptures are calling him to do. I am stubborn enough that if I was asked to be subservient, I would rebel... as I have so many times in churches that want to tell me what I should believe, and how to interpret scriptures, and what I must do to be a "good' christian. I must say that judging others, criticizing other lifestyles, deeming things like music as "from the devil"... these things leave a bad taste in my mouth, and the mouths of others. Christianity in it's organized form is just another corporate endeavor designed to make money for a chosen few. Thanks, but no thanks.... the best church is an early morning walk through a garden or forest, listening for God's still, small voice, or fellowshipping with others and being enlightened without cohersion.
