Henry Ford's Model T was designed to run on hemp gasoline, and the car itself
was built from hemp. Automobile panels built from hemp are 4 times
stronger than steel. Hemp itself has very little of the ingredient that Marijuana
has, and cannot be used as a drug. Added to that, hemp produces 4 times as
much paper fiber per acre than do trees. Hemp was outlawed by big money
interests, not because of its drug potential, but because it competed with the
timber interests and other financial interests.
Great site on hemp and it's potentials:

* Henry Ford's first Model-T was built to run on hemp gasoline and the CAR
ITSELF WAS CONTRUCTED FROM HEMP! On his large estate, Ford was photographed
among his hemp fields. The car, 'grown from the soil,' had hemp plastic
panels whose impact strength was 10 times stronger than steel; Popular
Mechanics, 1941.
