Hi to both of you,
I don't know if either of you are still checking this thread, but I just stumbled on to it.
I have a similar story - won't go into details - but the weight gain was *not* entertaining, and at the worst of it, I had to make dinner and then eat standing up - if I sat down, I could not get up again. The depression was also oh-so-entertaining.
I started to go see a Dr. of Chinese Medicine. I had seen one before who was ok, but this one was awesome. Price wasn't too bad, and rather than taking herbs like I had been in the Western version, I got herbs that worked for my condition (Qi deficiency and liver qi stagnation). Some of them were ok, some of them were gross, but I didn't really care since I started to feel human again.
Then I met another woman who specializes in something called NAET (an allergy elimination technique). Turns out I was allergic to literally 100s of things. I was very bummed, picturing a life without wheat, eggs, fruit, chocolate, coffee,..... you name it. BUT - turns out that NAET actually gets rid of the allergies. So. Fast-forward a couple of months. I'm alternating chinese herbs for a week on, week off (I asked for patent medicine after a while so that I didn't have to boil it - just take pills - and it's cheaper) - and doing some NAET sessions. The woman I went to took a bunch of advanced NAET training, so rather than clearing 1 allergy per session, she was clearing 30 or 40 per session.
Fast forward another couple of weeks. I'm at a dance class, joking with a friend, and suddenly, shockingly, I'm aware of the fact that I've been busy and functioning, quite well, on 8 hours sleep a night. I'm eating better than ever, but eating pretty much what I want. My hair looks great. My weight is starting to edge down. I'm laughing.
So. I'm a fan. If you want to check out Chinese Medicine doctors, look for somebody who's either a DTCM (Doctor of Traditional Chinese Medicine) or Doctor of Oriental Medicine. For NAET - you can check out naet.com and theres a link on there where you can find find a practitioner in your area. Look for somebody who's taken Level 2 at last once, and preferably more than once - they work faster, and better, generally. Find somebody you get a good gut hit from, and go with them.
Hope it works for both of you!!!!!!
