It is unfortunate that the healthy eating of humans is all tied up in politics. The problem is that Capitalism creates monopolies, no matter how the government and corporations try to cover that up. Capitalism means to capitalize and it means you must continuously sell a product below what your competitors do in order to stay ahead of them. If you don't, you can go out of business. That is what has happened to the old "mom and pop" stores of the past when chains like Wal*Mart came to their towns across America. Eventually, it leaves the top companies controlling the market. But, they all have to grow, too. So, they merge and/or create subsideraries and parent and sister companies, even do hostile takeovers.
These diversions are designed to give an illusion that the top companies really don't have all the wealth and power and control the market. Ever so often, the government will make an example of one of these big companies and charge them with creating a monopoly. This strengthens the illusion that America doesn't have monopolies and any that try will be punished. Sociologists and others say we don't really have a Democracy, but a Pluralist society, one where special interest groups control the economy and governement. Us little consumers just want healthy organic food we can afford, but that is all in the hands of big business as to what they allow us to have and how much it will cost us. I commend the small business owners like "Joe The Farmer" for having an agenda of trying to provide healthy food and make an honest living. It's too bad government and big industry doesn't follow the same agenda.
