Jesus was ostracized (to say the least). You might think that to be a silly comparison, it's not, it's just uncommon that anybody is willing to reach high enough to accept the opportunity. Many Christians are satisfied to offer The Lord simple faith, but like Job, you couldn't have persevered, endured and accomplished what you have unless you offered The Lord more than mere faith, you offer Him the "greatest of these", and we can only offer that to The Lord by having it in our heart to extend to our fellow human being. Your devotion is not simply based on the fact that He chose us, it is based on the fact that you chose Him. The Lord wrote the bible for us to learn from and included examples of rules and codes that outline properness, the 10 rules of perfection, food for thought (parables), and left room for those so inclined to discover the warmth and peace of His Sword (Sword of The Spirit). There is a reason why the person at the well was a woman. It was not a coincidence, it was an example of the attitude necessary for the rivers of living waters to flow (only by drinking from the "depths" 1 Cor. 2:10 can we offer to God what He really wants). Nothing in the bible is random happenstance, scripture is supposed to be our education, but can only be recieved by those who wish to recieve it as good students of His Spirit (so as not to be limited to the book, but to surpass it) and by pursuing TRUE life, a little piece of us (like Paul) will "die every day". After recovering from 51 years of suicidal depression (and the shame of it that society teaches), I learned immensely from The Spirit because I wanted MORE of God, but also because I was now able to look beyond death, and The Lord delivers "...all those who through fear of death were subject to life long bondage", Hebrews 2:15. The Lord knows your life and is making/growing you and your PERSONAL relationship/devotion.
