Dear white tiger--thanks for the warning!!
I don't like carpet of any kind, as it can harbor dust, mites, and mold and is not a good choice for my family as we have lots of allergies. also, the carpet has to be installed and often toxic glue is used to cement it to the floor. also, most carpets are put over a foam padding and the foam contains seriously toxic chemicals in the fire retardants that are used. the foam padding and the floor glue "outgas" putting dangerous chemicals into the home's air.
I recommend tile flooring sealed with non-toxic grout sealer by AFM (American Formulating & Manufacturing http://www.afmsafecoat.com/FrontPage.html ), or perhaps using recycled wood flooring. I've read about cork and bamboo flooring but am personally not familiar with either.
Read my blog for more information about less-toxic flooring: http://curezone.com/blogs/m.asp?f=309&i=281 Reducing Toxins in Home and see #5 for alternative flooring
Blessings!
