Hi everyone,
I found this forum months ago because I was at the end of my rope with cheilitis. I was looking for a cure - as you probably are - but I didn't find one. I then decided that instead of looking for the cure I would look for the cause of the symptoms.
I suffered from cheilitis for years and years. If I had to guess I would say that I suffered the symptoms for well over 20 years. Big pieces of skin would peel off my lips, they were always itchy and my bottom lip often had red itchy spots. Any time I got my lips wet they would itch and peel some more...I used to spend a lot of time in front of the bathroom mirror with a pair of tweezers trying to peel enough skin from my lips to make then smooth enough to put make up on so that I could cover them with lipstick.
I tried everything I could think of: elimination diet, liver cleanse, skin care products, creams...
Then one day during a group discussion for school the light went on!(I am taking a Master Herbalist program by the way) Since we know that your skin is the body's largest organ of elimination and that they body is always talking to us we can look at cheilitis as a sign that the body is trying to get rid of a toxin. If your liver is overwhelmed guess where you see it?...skin eruptions. So I figured that if my body was trying to tell me that I had a toxicity problem perhpas the symptom was close to the source. This led me to my mouth full of mercury fillings. It made so much sense to me that I went out the next week and had all of my fillings pulled out and changed. I had quite a few and the cost was over $600. No dental plan, woes me. The results were immediate. No more symptoms - no peeling - no itching - not a flake of skin. I am not kidding. I have never been happier. I've waited six months to post this message because I wanted to be sure.
I hope this will help someone out there. We really do have to start taking our health into our own hands. Good luck, listen to your heart.

Ive had this problem for so long and I could never figure out what was wrong..
Ive been reading the forums and searching for cures. I have metal fillings from cavaties in my mouth.. so i might be experiencing the same thing..
Im also looking for other possible cures .. Ive been told lamprene and someone mentioned something abotu fish oil and something else..
..
I would do what u said with the fillings if i could afford it.. but ive gotta keep searching for another (cheper) cure..

hi there, it really is great to hear of such a breakthrough after such a lengthy period. The question i pose to you is that i curenntly am a sufferer and also considering to get my fillings removed but my fillings currently are stoping my teeth falling apart due to me childhood obsession of sweets, however what fillings do u recommend to have put in place or a substitute to a filling a response would be apreciated or email me at alamgirinthehouse@msn.com.
I could write a thesis on the effects this condition has had on me but thats for another time plus if your'e reading this then you are well aware fo the devastatng effects it can have , peace out look forward to that reply to the original sender or anybody that has an answer

| Hi,
I had also been suffered from exfoliative cheilitis, now its been almost 15 years passed that i could not get rid of from this disease. I have spent a lot of money for the cure but with no outcomes. I am also experiencing that when i uses Lip balm over my Lips then Lips are getting blackish colour and a thin film of black material is accomulated over there as well as my Lips are growing thicker and deshaping my face badly. I am really very upset and disappointed to hear that there is no proper cure for this disease. Please help me out from this trouble by giving me useful tips . I will be very thankful to you.
Please note that i have no any fillings of any type in my mouth.
