  • Redmond Mined Salt -- Is Radon a Real Concern?   by  The Wanted     13 y     3,308       3 Messages Shown       Blog: Food for Thought
I have been using Celtic Light Grey Cooking salt for a long time and I know it has more minerals than the Redmond salt, but the Redmond salt is much cheaper and seems to come from a clean source.

Until I heard that radon is in ALL mined salts.

Is this a real concern or just a red herring? Any comments would be much appreciated!

UPDATE: After using the Redmond salt for a while I seemed to feel intuitively that it was not the best choice for me. At the same time, I really don't want to pay through the nose for Celtic sea salt, which I believe is equal to if not the best on the market. What I have done is purchased the Celtic sea salt for horses. It is much cheaper but NOT kosher and certified -- and there ARE little bits of dark things in there, but not so many I can't pick them out. Now I have a 2-year or 3-year supply. Be aware that I have no idea how clean it really is so I can't tell you this is a good way to go -- and also that some who sell it really don't want to know that you are not going to use it strictly for animals (because for one thing they don't want to get in trouble themselves probably).
