Biting Midge - Pupa Feeding on Blood
Parasites 20160222 220749
This Biting Midge has eyes forming and has its feeder tubes extracted to one hook into the host *my husband, and the second tube to feed on the blood like a mosquito. The bite is numbing when it hits this stage. It is when they are larvae/embryo stage they are more aggressive and have no finesse when it comes to getting into the skin and then immediately trying to feed. If the eggs are laid on the skin and when hatch they are looking for a nest to begin the cycle. Embryo size is as little as .1mm.
