Lipitor...the #1 prescribed cholesterol medication

I included the link at the bottom of this page....it is info on Lipitor....the #1 prescribed cholesterol drug.

I find it very interesting that the pharmaceutical information points out that Lipitor inhibits the enzyme that produces cholesterol.....at the very bottom of the page there is the following warning:

----------------------------------------------

Consult your physician about blood tests monitoring the liver function.

Liver function tests should be performed before the initiation of treatment and periodically thereafter. Patients who develop abnormalities will be monitored until they are resolved, or a reduction of dose or withdrawal of treatment is recommended by a physician.

----------------------------------------------

I find it very interesting that a drug that is used to lower cholesterol specifically warns of the effects on the liver....hmmmmmmm
