Re: I've been told I have elevated liver enzymes

Good morning Hibiscus. I imagine that your doctor knows intimately what medication you are taking, exactly how much you were drinking, your dietary history and general state of health. Sometimes an elevated enzyme count is induced by alcohol, and only 2-4 drinks per day can result in elevated SGPT, SGOT and Alkaline Phosphitase enzymes. When you stop drinking your enzymes will continue to rise for a couple of reasons and this is the natural progression of things. Alcohol metabolism results in fatty deposits in the liver. Simply, the liver has to work harder to breakdown the fat and works harded through an incumbent rise in enzymes: more enzymes= more work. You have a breakdown product of alcohol that needs to be dealt with. This is profoundly toxic stuff. Ever wonder why you get hangovers? That needs to be dealt with. Some doctors honestly do not read the pharmacology monographs on selected medications, so if you are taking any medications please read the Physicians Desk reference or a Merck Index, which can be found at your local library or pharmacy. Look under the section that deals with Gastrointestinal effects or Adverse effects or contraindications. any mention here of elevated liver enzymes should be noted. Typically what you need to watch for with large usage of alcohol is for your enzymes to return to normal. the real problem starts when your lever enzymes falls below normal and this means you have destroyed liver cells beyond repair.
As for your questions; the Master-Cleanse lemonade is extremely good regardless of your problems. It is an excellent baseline to start with. Try the B&P shakes but keep the psyllium at a low dose, such as 1.5 tsp. 3x day or you will get bulky stools which is what you want to avoid during cleansing. Try a tincture of Black-Walnut for the parasites during your fast. Do not worry so much about what your doctor wants or doesn't want. I just had surgery a month ago and my doctor wants to keep me on morphine. I used the Master-Cleanse 10 days ago to get off of it and used the Liver Flush yesterday to pass over a hundred stones. This is something he just doesn't understand, and in fact he will probably be a bit annoyed that I quit the stuff. As well, all the other voices here on this site will make good suggestions and they are all noteworthy. We are here to get each other through our messes. Milkthistle extract from the seeds not the plant are what you need for your liver. Marien Distel is about the best commercial brand, and this is OK to use during the fast. If you can get the real seeds and grind them your self that would be best as the Marien has added sugar. Good luck and God bless. J.
