Dr. Jensen's favorite teaching area on the 13 acre property.
This is to be followed by a potluck.
Dr. Jensen was into Whole, Pure, and Natural Foods,
so be sure to live up to the standard by stopping
at Jimbo's or Whole Foods on the way up, or the the day before.
There are also some special weekend Farmers' Markets where
you can pick up some organic locally grown foods to share with the family.
Be sure to send Leslie Goldman, Your Enchanted
for one of the greatest moments in San Diego History-
-the reopening of the Angel infested former Hidden Valley Health Ranch,
now under the expert and lovely management of Stephen and Fiona Markowitz.
Toward the evening, we will watch some of the Dr. Jensen Videos,
including one introduced by his friend Dennis Weaver.
Jensen was called down and out at the age of 87 with Cancer,
and told he was too old for Chemo. A notorious workaholic,
he went home and took his own medicine. Doctors could
not believe his health recovery! Out celebrating
with friend Gavin Macload of "The Love Boat,"
the vehicle was rear ended by a truck.
Dr. Jensen was paralyzed.
Doctors said, he would never walk again,
but Dr. Jensen was hard of hearing.
As he started to improve,
Doctors told him "He would have to be a Lucky Boy
if he ever walked again." Jensen put a sign over his bed.
"I am a lucky boy!" I will bring up a picture of
Dr. Jensen waving to me. He walked again.
He knew from the start he would walk again.
That story is told in a rare video that is
not commercial sold. I will show it.
At the age of 90 Jensen started to travel again,
and got into his old bad habits of staying up
all night and working night and day.
He finally ended up in bed again,
both unable to walk, and with a reoccuring the Big C.
Dr. Jensen often said, "A life well lived was long enough,"
and that "most people died in bed." He died peacefully
at the age of 92 at his beloved Hidden Valley Health Ranch,
gaving out the window at the flowers who were always he best friends.
During his life he saw more than 350,000 patients.
I was one of them. I consider him ageless
and a man who carried with him healing Forces
that will go deeper than the man himself.
Dr.Bernard Jensen was a local.
He choose San Diego because he know any food
could be grown in this climate. At one time,
the ranch below had a staff of 100.
In his later days, he continued to love fresh foods.
Some of them came to him from Joe Rodriguez,
Jr. Subject of "The Comeback of Joe the Farmer,"
my new Children's book that I will read to the kids at Earth Day.
I want to thank Stephen and Fiona Markowitz
for sponsoring this lovely day when we will
all Rake and begin to let this Holy Land know
we are here for her, and that we humbly
ask that she be here for us.
