Canada's Prime Minister using Fear Tactic over global warming solutions. by Karlin .....

Solutions to global warming are simple and do-able.

This is a copy of the article I wrote for the newspaper, concerning the announcment by Canadian Envornment Minsiter Baird that meeting Kyoto targets will devastae the economy.

I propose that he has forgotten to consider the benefits of new industries of solar and wind systems, electric cars, and many other 'green solutions' that people would gladly invest in if they were avialable and especially if they were subsidized at the same rate as fossil fuels are subsidised.

I apologise to my readers if they have heard some of these refrains before...

Editor -

This is getting outrageous. We, a clear majority of Canadians, are insisting that we move ahead immediately with solutions to global warming by reducing the emissions from burning fossil fuels.

There are solutions that would give us immediate reductions in emissions, and that are do-able and we could be starting right now. The only opposition to doing this seems to be our elected government - this is outrageous for a democratic nation. There are also longer term projects of the type we would like to see, the kind that are set up and then produce electricity endlessly and without further cost other than basic maintenance. They would be on our rooftops and in fields and hilltops. Individuals would become the power producers, and when the grid goes down, our communities will still have electricity.

It would mean an end to the system where we all pay into a single corporate entity for something we all use everyday, for the benefit of a few and the creation of billionaires. Instead, we will have this continuous supply of free electricity, free once we pay the purchase price off in a deal where our monthly bill is actually LOWER right away as we pay off a loan for the system. These loans would come from a government pool of money from budget surpluses [$15 billion to start] that pays for the systems that individuals set up on their own houses initially, and then the homeowners pay the government back over time so there is no interest paid to raise the cost of setting these systems up.[*1]. .

And thats just the start of what we really want. The favoured way to achieve clean sustainable energy is by having enough wind and solar energy collecters to offeset the high demands on the grid so that the worst polluting of our electrical sources will not have to be used. We are willing to compensate the owners of those facilities if that become a major hurdle in getting it done. From there, as the capacity of the solar and wind systems grows, we can power our hybrid and electric automobiles with the renewable energy and not burn fossil fuels much at all [and thats why the Harperites never talk of renewable energy systems, no matter how much economic advamtage and common sense it makes to ordinary Canadians, his priorities are with the large producers, and the Billionaire owners].

The cabal of corporate and political people around the conservative government of P.M. Stephan Harper are 'putting up the best fight they can' to slow any emissions reductions legistlation, specifically the vote on a private member's bill that would make it law to live up to our Kyoto promises. As usual with private member's bills that I would like to see passed, it will fail due to the Parliamentary session ending for the summer break.

Nothing will be done by the Canadian government [parliament] to address global warming emissions until the fall session, and then it will just be more stalling and diverting attention, and there will be some new denials on global warming. Don't bother trying to blame PM Harper - he is doing exactly what is wanted of him, and doing it brilliantly - its just not what the people of Canada want of him, it is what his corporate buddies, those 'fossil fools', wants.

Karlin Klavin,
Canada.
