Eco-Rage:

Eco-rage is when people get angry when they see abuses of the environment.

For eg., someone tosses litter on the ground and another person observes that act and reacts by tossing it back at the litterbug - thats an act of eco-rage.

Or, on-going cases of environmental abuses like global warming or depletion of clean water resources [especially when it is done for profit] - these tend to create hardened kinds of anger and resnetments.

People who have been fighting for reduced emissions from burning fossil fuels for 30 years, ever since the first evidence of the various harms that come from it were known, are now becoming directly involved in protests, politics, etc., and sometimes more militant.

There is a golden rule at play here too. For people who are "doing the right thing" like limiting their GG emissions but find that their actions are negated by people driving hummers, there is unfairness at play there. You dispose of your litter in the right barrels, and someone else tosses it on the ground - they have defeated your efforts to keep the place nice and that is offensive.

One issue that we can use to put things in perspective is backyard garbage burning:
"I can do what I want in my own yard, I paid for the place" is what homeowners have said for many years, and we allowed it. Now, when the stink and toxins from that burning barrel drift across the whole town, it is no longer contained to the yard in question - we live in shared air.
The ones who would go to that home and demand it be stopped are fully justified in taking direct and even violent action against that fire - throwing snow on it would be what is best for everyone.

Thats Eco-Rage at work, and it is justified. Taken a step further, when global warming is causing severe weather events and general environmental disruption, people have a right to fight against it. When the perpetrators of global warming start using tactics like paying scientists to write false reports that deny that burning fossil fuels is causing global warming, it justifies equally harsh responses from those who want to curb those emissions.

Eco-Rage people have decided that being pacifist in this situation of climate change may not be so moral after all. Perhaps you have done what you can to reduce your own emissions from burning fossil fuels, and do nothing more than that. You could just sit down and refuse to participate in society since there are no choices for living without producing emissions. That is similiar to sitting down in the face of military aggression and letting the soldiers kill you off, the classic pacifist way. With global warming, there is a difference - nature is under attack here and if we value it [of course we do] then there is a need to protect it from the assault that is occuring.

At this late stage in global warming, a lack of Eco-Rage falls into the theme of "For Evil to exist, Good People only need to do nothing". It is like we allow it if we do not work against it.

“Eco-rage is the punishment of the non-cooperator,”
- that means that people who live 'an environmentally careful life' do so because they believe they can rescue the planet. That is an altrusitic activity, not greedy or for self-interest. It is the right thing to do, and for those who are not follwing this lead there should be consequences. Eco-Rage provides that.

Government has traditionally held the responsbility of punishing offenders, but it is clear now that government has been corrupted by corporations and an Elite Wealthy minority. Policital support - money - from fossil-fuel interests has stopped governments from taking action against fossil fuels emission. We now know they have given up their democratic values in order to get into power. That is why Eco-Rage is justified in 'not leaving it up to the authorities'.
