WHO'S WHO
SHEMS MANDELL
Shems has extensive experience as a body work therapist and Chinese Medicine practitioner. He has
studied and mentored with numerous healing arts teachers and has develeoped a thriving personal
practice.
Shems has discovered that the most beneficial changes come from exploring our beliefs, feelings and patterns of thinking. He combines this exploration with body work to re-align body structure and enhance total well being.
Through his work with the Hendricks Institute, Shems has realized that relationships are vehicles for
discovering, learning and healing. By bringing consciousness to relationship, he feels that we have the potential to open up a whole new realm of what's possible in life.
One of Shems' strongest passions is his connection to nature. He is deeply nourished while gardening,
surfing, practicing Tai chi, hiking and camping. He shares his fullfillment and brings this passion to his youth mentoring and healing work.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
* Masters Degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine
* Licenced to practice Acupuncture in California as well as nationally
* Massage Certification from the Acupressure Institute
* Apprenticeship with Dale Belvin in Barefoot Shiatsu
* Trained in Cranial-Sacral therapy
* Eight years practicing as a Massage Therapist
* Experience and training in Herbology and Nutrition
* Two-year apprenticeship and Coaching Certificate with the Hendricks Institute
* Ten-years involvement in Mens' Groups
* Five years experience leading young children and teens at summer camps

Shems and Cornelia guide couples in acting out real-life scenarios using exaggerated personas to playfully discover core issues. They co-counsel individual couples using a gentle, supportive approach. They each have distinct insights while observing a relationship dynamic and create a powerful team when they work together.
• Cornelia holds a BA in psychology; two one-year counseling programs; five years counseling practice.
• Shems is a certified relationship coach via the Hendricks Institute.
Together they entered a two-year apprenticeship with the Hendricks Institute where they honed their skills in supporting thriving relationships.
