Oops, mixed metaphors!
I just woke up from a Christmas tree
and imagined I saw Santa Claus on a Cross!!!

Gosh, I wonder how many of us have had
hurtful and sad feelings around Christmas
because we felt left out because we were the
wrong religion?

When I was a kid, I grew up in East Los Angeles.
Even though my father was an Orthodox Jew,
we were never left out of the Christmas of our
neighbors who were catholics.

There was always a present for us too!

In the Jewish religion, it is a custom to invite
someone who is not of this tradition to the Sedar
in the Spring on Passover.

For Peace on Earth, I feel it is important to know
each other's Religious metaphors and mix them.

A person who is secure in themselves, is not threatened
by the customs of another faith or path.

One of my favorite Rabbis, Zalman Schacter Salomi
is a professor emeritus at Naropa in Boulder.

He once told a group that when he wants to see God
through fresh eyes, he atttends a service in another Faith.

The wonder of God is that there are over 600 Religions at a minimum.
How many can you name? How many of their practices have
you personally experienced?

So spread yourself around this Holiday season, and make
sure you light a Chanukah Candle Christmas Day Eve.

Have you any idea with Kwanzaa is all about?
IT starts tonight too!

In the days when I would do the Closing Ceremonies
for the Whole Life EXPOS IN LA, back in the 80's.
my friend Shlomo Carlebach, a singing Rabbi, who
come a share his lovely music that got everyone jumping
and singing.

The best years, I would send someone to pick up my Dad
who also lives in LA. I would tell the story of how I felt so alienated
from him growing up. I would bring him right up on the stage,
and then ask him to do a Jewish Prayer for the group.
One time, we had a Native American wedding celebration
and my dad on stage at the same time. My dad starts getting
teary eyed in times like those. I knew I was giving him life and
extra years.

Have you got a dad who bugs the heck out of you????
Try a different tact today. IF Jesus could forgive those
stupid Romans, maybe you can forgive somebody who
irritates you today today!!!

Christmas is more than a time to go to the Mall
and Maul the spirit of Christmas.

The Gift is finding ways to come to peace with the inner
meaning of Christ...The Messianic energy is Universal.
It shows up in many religions and Paths.

The other day, I send out an email saying we were having
a Christmas party. One person who responded runs a
Natural Food Company. He is Jewish, and wanted to Chastise
me for having a Christmas Party at our home.

I told him the way I celebrate works for me.

Christmas for me is the story of Light coming to the Planet,
and the planet being Saved by someone like you
who goes deep inside and finds your own divinity
in the face of personal darkness.

Christmas is about overcoming.
It is about the fact that Life cannot be short circuited
or short changed.

There is no force in Washington today that can truly kill
the spirit of good that is at the foundation of this country.

The Melting Pot idea is a TYPO. This country is intended
to be a Melding Pot, where we find personal strength through
interacting with others who are so different that it makes us
feel crazy at times. FInally, we gain our inner strength
and we can love and love more without fear of losing our self.

God is Love, so find someone to give your love to today!

Make a surprise visit over the phone maybe a call to a friend.
Be Santa Claus tonight and go visit a friend. Crawl down
their chimney, and see what happens.

Sometimes when I feel like an ingrown toenail, the best
thing I can do is unfold my hurt stepped on feelings from Christmas
past through calling someone I appreciate.

I was feeling so sad last night.

The one person who is my closest spiritual teacher
was wanting No contact. So I accepted that finally after
she had to tell me that twice yesterday over the phone.
I meant no harm in calling her back the second time.
I did not mean to disrespect her wishes to be left alone.
I just felt something inside that so strong. I didn't care
what she talked about. I wanted to hear what she had to
say, even if it meant taking a chance that she would say
No again. I felt a deep need to connect.

Then, I called another friend and as she was about to go to
sleep in Washington D.C. We shared some intimate talk
about how life was for us. We both felt better.

Then, I crawled into bed, and the phone rang.
Guess who?

Love from your eg
