we have a common scene
that you will find on many farms.
There is a man
clothed fully and masked
in protective gear
from head to toe
with goggles
with gloves
with sprayer in hand
carefully capable of
sending out the poison
to the ground
to kill the enemy.
The enemy is the dirt.
or as some folks
like to call it,
our benevolent Soil.
I want to advise all the people
I know to be careful of the dirt.
Every little child in the world
of Better Lliving through Chemistry knows
for a Scientific Fact that
dirt will kill you.
This is why we have invented Lysol
and Bleach.

Today I will visit with Medina,
an 18-year old young woman who
likes to run free through the streets;
one day she will run marathons.
She helps here father and mother
every week at the Farmers' Market
She works her butt off.
She is so happy to have finally graduated.
Last week, at the FM
I asked her what kind of career
she wanted.
"Pharmacology" she answered.
or something else that makes me rich!"
I asked her what she loves to do.
She brought out a sweet handmade lillte
book of her designs.
She had taken pop culture ads of beautiful bodies
and wrapped around them little thoughts.
"Do you like to make pretty things?" I asked.
She said, "yes!"
I got an idea to offer her a scholarship
so she could be exposed to a different kind of world
at the upcoming International Feng Shui Conference
in San Diego Aug 4-8.
I asked her mother and father if
Medina could help me set up the natural food Altar
of whole, pure, organically and biodynamically grown foods,

in the center of the formerly sterile carpet
in the Hilton San Diego Resort Lobby
August 4-8.
I have developed quite a loving relationship with
her father, Arslan. My heart feels touched
every time he calls me Brother with his thick
Bosnian accent.
He sends me home with
ethnic delights wrapped with kindness,
some that I pass along to house mates.
I talk to her mother, Vidina about Medina coming
to our conference.
Mom is totally exhausted
from working so hard making a living.
There is some music playing in the background
and Medina is moving to it.
Mom would like to go home
to visit her more than 300 relations
in Yugoslavia, Bosnia, and Turkey
where they give marriages that
last for three days,
"There is always someone getting
married, or having babies!" she tells me.
Arslan asks, "Do you know anyone from the FBI
who can help me?" There is a chance
that his daughter may not be in the country
Aug 4-8 if they can get an O.K. to go visit home.
Mom and daughter may be out of the country on
vacation.
Likely they will not be able to go.
In the small area where Arslan
lived, our Trusty Home Land Security knows
for a Fact that
Terrorists have been training
other Terrorists
With a last name like Redzepovic
can We really trust that Arslan's family
might not be exposed to them
during all the dancing the family would be doing?
Can we trust they might not get infected
and bring something bad home?
Arslan asked, "Do you know someone
in the government who might be able to unblock
the FBI hold on my citizenship papers?"
I am here for good!" he tells me.
This is my home. I am here to stay!"
We talk about his daughter, He agrees
it would be nice for her to be exposed
to a few of the kind-hearted teachers
who will be at the International Feng Shui
Conference.
I would like Medina to have a chance
to see what the world looks like
through the eyes of men and women
who call dirt the Soil.
I would like to expose her to new forms of
bacterias keep us in balance.
I would like her to meet other teachers
and people from around the world
who remind us to build homes
with walls that breathe
and bedrooms
that invite intimacy
and give us hope that
'The Future of Food"
can be bright, wholesome
as as Mother Earth intended.
I admit,
I would hate to imagine the kind of world
we might live in if
Eco-architects,
Passive Solarists
and other Energy Flowing Types
got in charge.
Maybe after August 8
one beauiful young woman
formerly from Bosnia
will have some other kind of dreams
and be exposed to our kinds of
career choices.
Our economy will just have to grin
and bear it.
There may even be one more woman
in Our World
who understands
the difference between
dirt and Soil.
