Energy is one of those elusive things that seems you can never have enough.  You may frequently wake in the morning thinking to yourself, "How is it all going to get done?"  While energy isn't an infinite resource, there are ways to have enough of it to get the stuff you need to do done and still have enough stamina left over for what matters most, your friends and family.

Sleep

It may sound cliche, but the most important factor for feeling your best daily is clocking enough shut-eye.  It is a common belief that highly successful folks barely sleep.  While this may be true in some cases, this is primarily a misconception.  Elon Musk may only catch 6 hrs of Zs, and CEO of Yahoo, Marissa Mayer, only 4-6.  However, most aim for seven or more hours a night; Jeff Bezos, Warren Buffet, and Bill Gates are all in this camp.  If you are frequently shortening yourself on the weekdays with the hopes of catching up on the weekend, it is time to break yourself of this habit and start practicing better sleep hygiene.  Recent studies are showing just how bad the side effects of a lack of sleep are.  Lack of sleep, defined as 6 hrs or less, is detrimental to immune function, cognitive ability and is even likely to reduce lifespan.  Neuroscientist and sleep specialist Mathew Walker asserts that just one night of sleep deprivation has shown a reduction in killer cells, the ones that ward off cancer, by up to 70%. That alone is reason enough to start focusing on getting a good night's rest.

 Hydration

Given that water comprises up to 60% of the human body, it should be no surprise that maintaining proper hydration is key to maintaining health and energy levels.  While old-fashioned H2O will be your best option for hydrating in most cases, there are instances in which you may want to consume a product with some electrolytes.  Many Le-vel Thrive Reviews mention supplementation with Thrive Thirst with coconut water and Himalayan sea salt to stay hydrated before, during, or after a hard workout.  Your body needs electrolytes to function correctly, so it is best to replace them through food or drink if you lose a lot through sweat.  The five electrolytes are sodium, potassium, calcium, chloride, and magnesium.  They all play a part in maintaining homeostasis, so it's best not to neglect them.

Exercise

Counterintuitive as it sounds, one of the fastest ways to get an energy boost is to move your body.  When you exercise, your body produces more mitochondria in your muscles.  Since mitochondria are energy converters, having more will increase your energy.  In addition, the feel-good hormones and the increase in circulation are instant pick-me-ups.  Just a brisk walk will work wonders.

Nutrition

What you eat plays a massive role in how you feel and perform, yet it is one of the most overlooked aspects of health and energy in America.  We tend to want what is fast and convenient, and those items are usually laden with fat, sugar, and excess calories, while at the same time being very nutritionally poor.  That candy bar ad that feeds off the hangry comes to mind.  These foods will make you feel much worse and decrease your energy over time.  You may experience a short boost only to be preceded by a crash.  It is best to eat a high fiber, plant-rich diet low in fat and cholesterol to avoid this.  Easy ways to add these types of foods are through smoothies, soups, and salads.  If you are eating plenty of these foods, you are probably getting the nutrients you need for sustained energy.

Meditation

Many are intimidated by the mere thought of meditating.  Rooted in Eastern tradition, mindfulness meditation, in particular, has taken hold in the West.  Numerous studies have produced undeniable results directly correlating meditation with the reduction of chronic pain, depression, and anxiety, which frees your energy to do more productive things.

If you feel a lack of energy, there are many small habits that you can adopt that will bring it back.
