One thing that does not change during different seasons of the year and is increasingly necessary during this COVID-19 pandemic is how vital vitamins are for our health. As essential as a healthy and well-balanced diet, vitamins help our bodies function correctly, and they help us grow at a regulated rate. Not having a well-balanced diet is why vitamins are necessary. Although necessary all year, the wintertime is when vitamins are more critical, and when it comes to taking vitamins, diligence is due.

Introduction

Vitamins are in the food that we eat. There are 13 different vitamins, including vitamin D, vitamin E, vitamin A, and vitamin K, or the fat-soluble vitamins, and folate (folic acid), vitamin B 12, biotin, vitamin B 6, niacin, thiamin, riboflavin, pantothenic acid, and vitamin C (ascorbic acid), or the water-soluble vitamins. In foods, we only need small quantities to get these vitamins so that our bodies can process them. They are vital for growth. The exception of vitamins found in food is vitamin D, which comes from exposure to sunlight.

Vitamins are either water-soluble or fat-soluble. A water-soluble vitamin is one that dissolves in water. A fat-soluble vitamin dissolves in fat and is even disbursed and stored in fat throughout the body. As stated above, vitamins are found in the foods we eat if we eat a healthy diet. However, many diets fall short of providing the necessary amounts of vitamins for a healthy human body.

Store shelves are proof that vitamins are necessary. Aside from bottles of individual vitamins, there are specialty vitamins for every demographic imaginable. There are multivitamins for women, multivitamins for men, multivitamins for children, vitamins for women over 50, vitamins for men over 50, vitamins for the athlete, and multivitamins for women with extra iron, and so on. The availability of vitamins makes it evident that vitamins are so essential.

Vitamins In the Winter

As mentioned above, winter is a time when vitamins are more necessary than any other time. That is because winter is when more people are inside, getting minimal sun, and sluggish immune systems. Vitamins give our systems and health a boost.

In addition to vitamins, wintertime is useful for adding supplements as well. Though the terms vitamins and supplements get used interchangeably, they are not the same. Supplements are an addition to our diet. They are nutrients like fiber, minerals, and herbs, and there are over 88,000 different supplements. Some of those are Vitamin B12 (riboflavin), calcium, fluoride, chloride, and chlorella b12, that help you have a healthy nervous system.

There is an advanced risk in the body that is deficient in vitamins, which can lead to severe illnesses. There is a risk of developing diseases and disorders where vitamin deficiencies exist, such as neurological disorders, inflammation, gastrointestinal problems, anemia, and much more.

Conclusion

Eating a well-balanced diet is essential, but busy schedules make it hard for many people to do that. Therefore, vitamins are crucial, especially in the winter, to help avoid illnesses caused by vitamin deficiencies. It is essential to know what your body needs and be diligent about taking vitamins for optimal health.
