32 Days by exposure .....

Slow Down at 32 Days

Date:   8/20/2016 4:54:13 AM ( 8 y ago)

Nearly 7:30 on the 32'd day of this adventure... feeling ok, its the heaviest day of my period which is not saying much - still much lighter than usual but its there, late but its all good.

Today was colder & maybe the combo of being crampy and feeling that cold prompted me to stay in my room much of the day doing a lot of Buddhist practice and reading some Rumi, writing a little poetry and not a whole lot else.

No fires or bushwalks or yoga and no music today, its too cold out there, perhaps tomorrow I should just start the fireplace up again, its been nice taking a break from keeping it going all the time and the weather has been warm enough most days not to really need it - not if its going to keep me room bound tho, either I make some yoga space in here or I get a fire going and get back to keeping one on. Not really sure, tomorrow's supposed to be a little warmer but then the temp's going to drop again so maybe fire is the answer.

I got up and started a new practice routine today, getting back to a hypnotic morning exercise and night exercise I created which are part of my practice - very beautiful, helps me a lot to create a little more mindfulness and a really good way of entering and leaving my day. Something I should continue with. Then I decided to begin each day with a short couple of practices just to set the tone and create auspiciousness plus harmonize.

So a new bit of daily ritual - after that I got up and cleaned up the kitchen a little, I then made a morning apricot tea, a big glass jar of pineapple banana vanilla coconut milk with a touch of maple syrup - I didn't drink a glass, I tasted it but bottled it for later - tasted nice. I had to make a jug of coconut milk for this one, and there was enough of that left over for another maca/mate tea tonic for this evening.

after I cleaned the juicer, I juiced the grapefruit I'd peeled and liberated from the tree at the Dharma center on our last trip up there & juiced it, adding a spoonful of pollen honey and pouring a 1/4 of a glass full into 3/4 soda water - it made two of those, and I drank that all day reading my book and so on, as well as having a milk coffee and doing the laundry.

I made some experimental maca candies - making a center of a mixed nut/seed butter I had in the pantry with some maple syrup, maca powder and some of the pineapple banana vanilla juice pulp - mixed that well - then heated up a mix of coconut oil and coconut butter in a little saucepan, adding some of the coconut flour I had left from the milk I'd made and a few TBSP of maca powder - it got thicker and grainer than I expected but I just added a little more coconut oil and then realized it would harden up when it got cold anyway - made little 'chocs' in little novelty ice cube trays I had - one tray with the nut better mix in the centre of the maca/coconut flour 'choc' and the other one with a mix of date syrup & tahini as the center - both came out very nice - the date ones were really really nice... put them in the fridge and freezer to chill and tried a couple later on - the high oil content isn't the best for my stomach during the fast - maybe one would be ok, but I had 3 of them today and that was a bit much. I've still got some of the nut butter center mix left, going to make coconut oil chocolate and make little peanut butter cups tomorrow, had enough kitchen for today :) I don't need to eat these while I'm fasting anyway, they will store no problem in the fridge or freezer as healthy candies for later.
Just wanted to see if I could make maca chocolate that would be nice without cocoa - I think so - next time will try without the coconut flour tho.

I ate a couple corn chips, and made my last lamb chop - no rice today, didn't feel like it. I really loved the meat - seems to be what my body wants, the other stuff probably not lol - made another dinner juice with my one little chop of pineapple/cucumber/parsley/fennel - nice combo just a small glass of juice.

Then after dinner I made the mate coconut tea tonic again, this time with coconut sugar not maple syrup - very nice, had a big milkshake glass of it and there's still some in the blender for later - its nice hot :) & very energizing for those times I'm hitting the energy wall. Feel a little less than enthused today, peaceful and the practice has been really beautiful - just the fast felt a little flat today - that feeling where you wish you were eating meals or something but know you can't and while I have been having some food, it hasn't been what I needed with the exception of the lamb today anyway. It's probably just the cold and the cramps and not feeling like being in chilly rooms therefore not very productive. Fire tomorrow - I think that's a good idea.

I haven't done a bushwalk for a few days and haven't done any yoga since before the last trip to the city - tomorrow would be a good day to build a fire in the morning, bathe all this crampy time away and do some gentle movement. Going to keep reading Rumi tonight, the Mathnawi is perhaps the most incredible work I've ever come across. It moves me like nothing else.

I'm ok with resting a few days and doing some practice, reading, music and hypnotic exercises - its been peaceful and I've been turning inwards. Its good to rest from too many activities when you're menstruating. I don't take much time like this and I prefer to be 'accomplishing' all the time... its a good reminder however when natural processes change that feeling and send you on a different journey, out of your habit, out of your pattern in such a way that its disrupted and insight can be gained.

Good luck to all you fasters out there and readers taking your health into your own hands!

In a few more days I'll be finished with this woman's time and will journey back to the full fast for another deeper phase. Might as well get to 40 days on this journey, I've come a long way.
