Why organic milk may still not be good enough for individuals with food sensitivity.

July 7, 2019 - Do We Need A Thought Correction About Cows? -

This blog-writer just stumbled upon an inspirational presentation made by William Dempster Hoard - a man considered to be the father of the dairy industry in Wisconsin (you know: "The Diary State"!) which came as a result of a search for "the people parish for lack of knowledge", a phrase that came to mind while writing a comment at: "Got Broken Brain?" Hoard's presentation evoked a further inspiration to search for his natal chart (to see what may have been in Virgo when he was born) and then to generate the man's Human Design. Although that search is incomplete at this moment the following appeared serendipitously to his desire (upon reading Hoard's presentation) to quote what is quoted of him here:

"... I once bought a book about cows – The Complete Cow, by Sara Rath. It’s a great book, a mine of historical and not so historical cow information. ... To my surprise, I’ve consulted this book quite often. Once you realise how important cows have been in the whole of man’s history, it begins to feel rude to gloss over them in a historical novel. Rude and historically negligent.

The cow is not just an animal. As William Dempster Hoard reminds us, ‘the cow is the foster mother of the human race. Form the day of the ancient Hindoo (sic) to this time have the thoughts of men turned to this kindly and beneficent creature as one of the chief forces of human life’ (Rath: 17). ...

Every family in every historical novel depends on the cow: cows are always a feature. But is a cow ever The Feature, even in a modern novel? I don’t think so. ... I think there’s a historica gap to be filled. My family had a cow, disconcertingly called Butterfly. ... She was a prize cow, but no beauty, at least she doesn't seem a great beauty to me even bearing in mind that in 19th century portraits, cows always look like oxo cubes. Nevertheless, I think of her sometimes, and of all those family cows that, for centuries and centuries, stood between a child’s life and death ..."[4]

Comment:

Not one to want to make any assumptions about what others think - it is possible and maybe likely that the above quotes may not motivate an individual to consider the opening question regarding the possible need for a "thought correction about cows." Therefore, IMO, this post deserves more references to support a reconsideration.

Update:

Just generated a natal chart for William Dempster Hoard and sure enough he had Venus in Virgo! I'm imagining there is probably more planetary placement here or in compatible signs that will underscore this man's hygienic values and orientation. In fact the asteroid Hygie would be a good "additional object" to include in his extended chart.

Continuing:

He has Hygie at 27CAN29 with a Sabian Symbol that may be even more indicative of his pronounced nature connection!

Interesting that I had not devoted a blog to grass-fed dairy before! It's about time!

"Ruminant animals have four stomachs and are evolutionarily adapted to eat pasture, browse and other plants. Today's dairy cows are nutritionally depleted and stressed by producing huge quantities of milk. To survive they need a lot to eat, so forage is supplemented with grains. When cows are fed grains, the rumen pH lowers, microbes change and the animal's health (also milk and meat) is adversely affected, and cows eating large amounts of grain can even die."[1].

This cannot be overemphasized. The average lifespan of a cow in a commercial dairy operation is 5 years. After this, they’re often too ill to produce the amount of milk required of them, and they’re sent to slaughter. I have to ask myself: if a cow fed high amounts of grain can become that unhealthy that quickly, how healthy can the milk from a grain-fed cow possibly be?

“Cows that are fed grain and raised under substandard conditions will likely produce milk that is unhealthy to drink raw because grains… change the pH balance and the natural bacteria present in a cow’s gut, which in turn affects the natural bacteria and pathogens present in their milk.”[2][3]
