"… contemplation is a great deal more than just thinking.

Contemplation means that we create a space inside ourselves a vacuum of openness of open-mindedness of open heartedness and then we drop a question into that still pool and we watch the ripples. …this alone is just a great challenge, to empty of ourselves of our opinions or our judgments and our self judgments and even perhaps to empty ourselves of curiosity and then just to wait … to wait until inspiration arrives like the first shafts of sunlight piercing their echoing darkness.

contemplation employs kenosis because it's a soft approach it's a gentle approach essentially we’re waiting. …

… contemplation like this is chaotic it empties you. First thoughts exhaust themselves then feelings and then even the will to go on ... and then what happens when you're ready is you just find ... that inside comes; that clarity comes and it comes so softly and with such love; and that's the gentle power of contemplation that it empties you out in this way.”[12]*

the place where you dream and contemplate."[11]

contemplation (n.)
c. 1200, "religious musing," from Old French contemplation or directly from Latin contemplationem (nominative contemplatio) "act of looking at," from contemplat-, past participle stem of contemplari "to gaze attentively, observe," originally "to mark out a space for observation" (as an augur does). From com-, intensive prefix (see com-), + templum "area for the taking of auguries" (see temple (n.1)).[1]

I'm impressed with "to mark out a space for observation". I've been marking out space for an increased frequency of my contemplations over the past week or so and I'm greatly blessed as a direct result. So much that I have thoughts of advocating this "middle path"[2] as a preferred path to "absorption"[3]

temple (n.1)
"building for worship, edifice dedicated to the service of a deity or deities," Old English tempel, from Latin templum "piece of ground consecrated for the taking of auspices, building for worship of a god," of uncertain signification. Commonly referred to PIE root *tem- "to cut" (see tome), on notion of "place reserved or cut out" [Watkins], or to root *temp- "to stretch" [Klein's sources], on notion of "cleared space in front of an altar" (see tenet). Compare Greek temenos "sacred area around a temple," literally "place cut off," from stem of temnein "to cut." Figurative sense of "any place regarded as occupied by divine presence" was in Old English. Applied to Jewish synagogues from 1590s.[4]

I find "any place regarded as occupied by divine presence" the most outstanding explanation of what "temple" meant and the connection between contemplate and temple. The next outstanding explanation for me is "cleared space in front of an altar".

Richard Rudd in the current "Virtual retreat" regarding Gene Keys/Golden Path suggested a three-minute contemplation called "The Triple Flame" to be practiced once every three hours for three minutes. After beginning my triple flame practice I read one of the teachings of Omraam Mikhael Aivanhov[5] who recommended greater frequency and possibly about once an hour. I increased my frequency of contemplations and found that all the more enduring and absorbing!

June 27 - More On Contemplation -

In a moment of inspiration I wrote this note: "Beholding and reflecting" as my contemplation. Later I followed up on that with a search that included the following results.

"theoria - contemplation assimilates us to the divine"[6]

"Theoria -

action in the sense of contemplating. Contemplation assimilates us to the divine."[7]

"Contemplation assimilates"[8]

Continuing with Contemplation and Beyond!

"...Contemplation is an activity of the heart or the soul which dwells on an image, a quality or a virtue in order to rejoice in its light and beauty and be in communion with it.

And on a higher level than meditation and contemplation is the magical activity of Identification by which the will and the spirit identify with the Creator in order to create."[9]

Continual synchronicity in my life as I most recently was thinking about the distinctions between Meditation, Contemplation and Concentration as per presentation/s by Richard Rudd. Now I can add "Identification" to the feast!

[3]"absorption" has also been referred to as "union", "returning home", "Self remembrance", etc.

According to Richard:
Absorption (is) A state of consciousness in which your aura begins to feed off its own light, thus perpetuating a very stable high frequency throughout your being. As you enter the state of Absorption your DNA begins to trigger your endocrine system to secrete certain rarefied hormones on a continual basis. These hormones are associated with higher brain functioning and involve states of spiritual illumination and transcendence. At such a stage, it is no longer possible for you to be drawn back into the lower frequencies for more than brief periods of time. Arising naturally out of Contemplation and leading to Embodiment...:
