Al Jacobson: Whole Foods Pioneer. One of my first sponsors

Taking a moment to remember, Al Jacobson, "The Wizard of Foods.: He was my first sponsor as I recall. I am starting to fundraise now for The Enchanted Garden Mobile's Journey to Win Back Our Sacred Seeds. Thing of Al. I sense he is happy about that. No one should be forgotten who has given that much to the health industry. Every time see a package of Blue Corn Chips in Whole Foods Market, something inside of me remembers Al, who was the first to bring out the Blue Corn Chip.

Moving forward, I am looking back at some old notebooks.
I came upon a clipping about Al Jacobson, who lived pretty much before the internet age.

He was the founder of Garden of Eatin. I would see him at various health food shows put on by the National Health Federation. in one show in particular, likely during the 80's, I remember Al being in San Diego at the old El Cortez Hotel.

I believe Dr. E.H. Bronner was there too. I remember bumping into the Dr. Bronner founder in the bathroom. Strange how memories like that stand out.

I was with Harpo, one of my father figure's in this life. Harpo had a vegetarian restaurant and store in Mission Beach. Harpo was an old friend of Gypsy Boots, who I believe was also at that show and ended up coming down to our restaurant.

I would see Al for time to time. He thought a lot of me and appreciated my enthusiasm.

One time, I was at a Booksellers big event at the Biltmore. I was in running to be the main photographer for the job and was going to be paid around $1200.00. I came to Los Angeles with the intent to earn $1200.00

Not getting that job with the old BEA was one of the best things that ever happened to me. I have a big head about my photography rather than skill. I do not believe I could have done that assignment.

One night, and this was years after I first met Al Jacobson, I saw him at a sit down dinner at the event. He offered to give me a contribution. It was the first time I had a sponsor for my work. I received $1000.00. A couple nights later, I was feeling discouraged and tired and went to an HCI event where Mark Victor Hansen and Jack Canfield were previewing their new book called "Chicken Soup for the Soup"

Mark is quite the inspirational speaker. He totally shifted my attitude. I knew he had a lot of books on the shelf. I learned something watching. They were only promoting one book. They had a focus. That made an impression on me.

I was also really turned out by Mark's Motivational message.

I left the event and went out to my vehicle, a VW Van that was the predecessor to the EG Mobile. It was parked in the Persian Square Garage underground. I got my camera and returned to the event.

I started to take some photos, being inspired. I really did not have permission to take photos. I just started to do it. Mark Victor Hansen already knew me to some extent. I would see him at various New Age events, some with Terry Cole Whittaker in San Diego.

He saw I was taking photos. He came over to me and said, "How much are those going to cost me?" I was thinking that Al Jacobson had given me $1000.00 and I was $200.00 short of the fantasy figure thought I needed for some expense or budget.

I said $200.00 he said yes. I had my $1200.00.

The pictures I took are historic. They were from the coming out party for "Chicken Soup for the Soul" when there was only one book in that series and before it had become a best seller.

I did some original Plant Your Dream work on that book on the way home. I felt I was implicated in the success of the series.

Al Jaobson did sent the $1000.00.

I continued to see him. I visited him once when he was on Santa Monica Blvd in Los Angeles. He gave me some products for some event I was doing. He was the original Blue Chip Corn Maker.

I just stopped to see if there were any notes on hm on the web. It is a figure in the history of the Whole Food Natural Food Movement who deserves to be remembered.

If I knew the date of his birth and death, I would honor him.

I might research this. I feel he is with me now, blessing me in this moment as I step forward to raise $6000.00 for my #Enchanted Garden Mobiles Journey to Win Back Our Sacred Seeds.

Yesterday, I received word that one of my sponsors is giving $1200.00. There is that magical number again.

I did also receive $500.00 so far from another noteworthy source.

I still have a lot of organizing to do to get my Feng Shui ready to receive $6000.00 or more.

I am hunting this morning for one of my certificates that I lost last weekend in the #EarthFair.

I may go print up some more on the way to the Trees for Health Event today at noon-4. You can see me at the Trees for health Garden, 5th and Quince.

Great tours of the 80 or more Trees for Health Trees. I am looking forward t this event today.

There was a boy
A very strange enchanted boy
They say he wandered very far
Very far, over land and sea

A little shy and sad of eye
But very wise was he

And then one day, a magic day
He passed my way, and while we spoke
Of many things, fools and kings
This he said to me

"The greatest thing you'll ever learn
Is just to love and be loved in return"

"The greatest thing you'll ever learn
Is just to love and be loved in return"
