"If you really love your coconut oil (as I do), then it’s worth seeking out fair trade brands that guarantee decent pay for farmers and workers and enforce higher agricultural standards."

As an American chef my introduction to coconut oil came rather late (IMO) seemingly long after having worked with other more familiar fats and oils within the conventional food service settings that I had worked at. When I finally was introduced to coconut oil I immediately liked to it! When I met Sally Fallon in 1999 one of the very first articles she gave me was regarding this category of foods. I then realized it was time for me to be more selective about my choices for oils. I soon embraced coconut oil as my main supplementary oil next to butter!
Recently I have been introduced to Dr. Bronner's coconut oil. It is the number one coconut oil of choice for "Your Enchanted Gardener": Leslie Goldman. I have to confess - I have deeply enjoyed about three quarters of his jar of Dr. Bronner's coconut oil just over this past week and find it is a very good substitute for butter! I'm now convinced that a case of this oil would be happily celebrated here in "The Enchanted Garden Kitchen" in San Diego, California.
In addition to Dr. Bronner's coconut oil being an excellent product that I am endorsing - this morning I learned that it really does make a difference to get "Fair Trade" coconut oil!

Also good to know - Dr. Bronner's coconut oil is listed in the 2015 Shopping Guide - a most helpful, educational nutrient-dense, real foods guide that's published yearly by the Weston A. Price Foundation. Members get a free copy each year!
Sally Fallon and Mary Enig wrote "Eat Fat Lose Fat" that features coconut oil. Dr. Tom Cowan, author of The Fourfold Path to Healing" makes several references to coconut oil for weight loss.
We like Dr. Bronner's products and the way they do things. For instance:
"What we really appreciate about Dr. Bronner’s is their profound commitment to sourcing their main ingredients from Fair Trade and organic sources. Their goals are that everyone in their supply chains receive fair compensation; that farming and production practices have minimal environmental impact and to contribute to local development projects in the communities where they source ingredients. When they couldn’t find a suitable supply of Fair Trade organic coconut oil for their products, Dr. Bonner’s decided to make their own and the Serendipol project was born. Serendipol is a subsidiary of Dr. Bonner’s located in Sri Lanka and is now the world's foremost source of certified organic and Fair Trade virgin coconut oil, supplying cosmetics grade coconut oil for Dr. Bonner’s well-know soaps, as well as premium-quality food-grade coconut oil.":
