Is The US Gov A Lawful Authority On Americans Health Issues? by chef jem .....

Article: “The Baneful Consequences of the U.S. Dietary Guidelines by Adele Hite

Reading “What should Americans eat to be healthy” in Wise Traditions article: “The Baneful Consequences of the U.S. Dietary Guidelines by Adele Hite[1] inspired me to read the opening presentation by undersecretary “Kennedy”[2] who says: “… the guidelines are meant to apply to healthy individuals …”

The published Kennedy statement that is referenced in Wise Traditions:
“I always like to note, because I think the dietary guidelines process sometimes sounds a bit complicated to people who don’t follow it day to day. But really the dietary guidelines for Americans are meant to answer one, what I think is a very simple question which is what should Americans eat to stay healthy?”

Adele’s comments within the article were deeply appreciated – especially: “… the very idea that the federal government could know what foods were best for any given individual was a dramatic shift in how public health nutrition was understood and administered.” (p 57) as well as her comments on the vegetarian agenda! My greatest personal appreciation is in regards to her paragraph on “Expanding Influence: The 2015 DGAC has made sustainability and environmental concerns part of its agenda …” and that these concerns are “…far too important to be entrusted to a committee of nutrition scientists with little knowledge or expertise in the vast and complex interactions that make up the American agriculture and food production system.” There is much more that needs to be said concerning “expanding agenda”.

The “agenda” begins with how the government’s relationship with the American people as a whole and the entire history of this relationship. I intend to add links to previous blogs that elaborate on this history.

"Is The US Government Truly A Lawful Authority On Americans Health Issues?" The question can also be stated as: "Where in the Organic Laws has the health of the American people ever been one of the Powers that was duly delegated by the States to the Federal Government?

My concern is the deeper core issue of governmental interference with private Americans and their individual freedoms to live their life as it pleases them. Friends - the keyword here is freedom! The "expanding agenda" of government has a long history to it that predates all of these food issues (I'm also thinking of the governments controversies regarding "raw milk":

(I wonder what Adele’s comment may be on this:
“The Dietary Guidelines for Americans, 2010 … accommodate the food preferences, cultural traditions, and customs of the many and diverse groups who live in the United States.”: from: Executive Summary)
