In the spirit of his love of music and commitment to dialogue, the Daniel Pearl Foundation launched the first Daniel Pearl World Music Days on October 10, 2002, which would have been his 39th birthday. There is no financial obligation to participate and all musicians are welcome.

When you participate (by making a simple dedication at your event) you will inspire your audiences with a sense of unity and purpose, and reaffirm your commitment to international friendship by taking a stand against the divisive forces that took Danny’s life.

My Experience of the Concert at SDSU

October 24, 2014
7:30 pm

I am very grateful that I was able to attend this concert at SDSU Smith Recital Hall.

I had my eyes opened to aspects of Jewish life in San Diego that inspired me:

I had no idea that Tiferet Israel Synagogue, not really that far away from my home had an orchestra.

I was inspired to explore further the Jewish Studies Department at San Diego State.

I saw again Pam Fox, who I met at the Essene Dead Sea Scrolls exhibit a number of years ago. She read a poem onstage. She is a teacher at SDSU in
Bible studies and mythology.

I met Sura-Appel-Lennon, the committee chair of this event. I was inspired to help her in her vision to create a bigger event in San Diego. She expressed a vision to have this program at Symphony Hall.

I felt happy for Yale Strom, Jewish Studies Program Artist in Residence at SDSU. It felt like he really had carved out a great niche for himself at the nearby university. I was introduced to his work about a decade or more ago, but had not seen him since.

I met a wonderful artist, Hamed Nikpay. He gave me a copy of his CD. He was a guest performer in Common Chords, the group that Yale Strom has.

What Time Will It Be?

This is a lovely video. This was one of the songs in the concert. The woman in the video, Elizabeth Schwartz, performed this in the David Pearl Concert.
