The National Heirloom Expo is a place to meet Old & New Friends. Please put the event on your calendar now and plan to attend September 8,9, 10 2015. Here is a little vignette of an experience I had the final day of the event.

Debra, Left, and Lori, right, I meet them both within a hour on the final day of the National Heirloom Expo. I hadn't seen either in 30 years and both came up and said they remembered me! All this happened in the same hour!

I was dragging all day three of the National Heirloom Expo, September 9, 10, 11, 2014. I could hardly keep my eyes open during some really important sessions on Community Seeds. In fact, I thought I was going to be on stage to give an inspired closing during the final session, but the timing and outer world events, as well as my tiredness got in the way.

One of the highlights of the day was the Seed Swap, between 3-5 pm outside of Finley Hall. Put a microphone in my hands, and I feel younger, even when my health is a bit off.

I really came alive during the Seed Swap! Then something really amazing happened. A lovely woman came up and introduced herself. She was Debra who now lives in Sepastopol. We hadn't seen each other in more than 34 years. Then, Judith Diggs, a new friend who grows squash at Biofarm in Lake County found me, as well as Keith Wyner, who was my helpful photography and help mate during the expo.

I was already upbeat from the seed swap by the time we went to visit, Adam Johnson at the Beet Kvass booth. Both Debra and Judith were exciting by the new find.

Then we went to the Hall of Flowers to see Judith's display of squash that she grew for the expo. Judith had won a first place ribbon for squashes that were commissioned for the expo.

What do you know, while we were all in front of Judith's squashes, another woman came up to me and said she remembered me from San Diego! She said she lived in my house, and that her name back then was Lori Greenberg.

She said that I hadn't changed at all, and wanted to know how come?

That was a real boost. My health has been day to day. I haven't been digesting my food well in more than six weeks, and have lost a lot of weight. Maybe that was why I still look like a kid.
