Were their GMO's in Morning Cereal at the ALEPH Kallah 2011?
There is no way to know, because although there is a high
percentage of GMO's in corn, these go unlabeled with the
Blessing of the White House, its FDA, and USDA.
The University of Redlands kitchen and their
staff are to be congratulated for serving Organic
foods from local farmers and their very own organic farm,
and yet here, even a kitchen that strives to serve
their students the finest of fresh and tasty foods,
we cannot be sure that we can guarantee that our morning cereals
that so many students love, do not contain
GMO ingredients.
Is there a possible danger from eating GMO ingredients?
Gratefully, kitchens as that at the U of Redlands
are open to serve organic foods and not take a chance.
What are the issues involved?
Should we who strive for Sacred Foods
and connecting with God be concerned
about GMO's?
This Plant Your Dream Blog asks for

INTRO
I came away from the ALEPH Kallah 2011
very inspired by the sincere and avant Gard
work of the Bon Apetit kitchen and staff at the
University of Rediands to serve us the finest organic foods
possible at our international gathering of Jewish Renewal Communities,
June 24-July 3, 2011.
I met with Danna Ashbaker, the Sous Chef,
and was introduced to her kitchen staff.
I promised that I would help introduce
more organic choices into the U of Redlands Kitchen.
This Plant Your Dream Blog is a followup,
a gift from myALEPH Kallah 2011 partication to
the U of Redlands.
Those in attendance at the ALEPH Kallah 2011
showed extreme appreciation to the kitchen
staff. This caught my attention.
I want to help educate more Jewish people
about my concerns about GMO foods,
and specifically possible GMO ingredients in morning
cereals.
These cereals are very popular for breakfast
on campus, Danna told me.
Kids everyone love these sugary treats that
often begin the day and end up causing energy
drops later.
If one person is influenced by this
Blog to become more aware of the issues here
involved I will have served my purpose.
As a follow up, I will be in contact with my
allies at Nature's Path Organic Food company
and Eden Foods. Both these organically invested
companies I highly admire for leading the charge
back to an organic uprising.
It will give me pleasure to hook up thestaff
at U of Redland's with my allies within these
two leading companies that deserve widespread
support.

For those wanting Organic morning cereal choices
at the U of Redland's while giving students
the option to continue using GMO cereals,
here is an easy option. These cereals

and you have a great option for a tasty
morning cereal.
Despite higher costs, Michael Potter created a
BPA free lined can in the 90's.

One of my latest Seed Dreams is reinvigorating
the use of Sacred Foods within the ALEPH Kallah,
and for the Jewish People.
ALEPH stands for Alliance for Jewish Renewal.
There are ALEPH Jewish Renewal Communities worldwide.
I went to the ALEPH Kallah 2011 for a few days
at the University of Redlands in early July.
This was a profoundly healing experience.
On the trip up I had a broken window on the driver side
of my 68 VW Van that has been named the Enchanted Garden Mobile.
I was going into strange territory, a city and neighborhoods
where I had never been. I did not know how safe my vehicle
would be loaded with some valuables including an Powerbook
Pro Laptop and my Olympus SP600UZ Camera.
I write more about this experience in
my post called, Going from Yelling for Help to
saying Wow in 48 hours at the ALEPH Kallah 2011.
I also was bringing a large jeweled box that contains
the deepest dreams of humanity awaiting release as people
accept Mother Earth's invite to Plant Your Dream.
I also had with me some little Organic alfalfa seeds,
some of the last on the planet, unless the Jewish People
and others stand up now for Nature's Original Technology.
Many today are pushing back the invasion of Genetically Modified Organisms
that are increasing everywhere, including on our morning
cereals. The only way we can clearly avoid GMO's is to
specifically shop for organic cereals.
In January, the lastest food to be deregulated was alfalfa.
In other words, alfalfa--unless is it specifically organically grown--
will soon be altered by Biotechnology.
That's what many fear about genetically engineered alfalfa. Organic farmers grow alfalfa as a forage crop for livestock, but genetically engineered crops can pollinate organic crops, making them non-organic. No organic forage, no organic livestock. No organic livestock, no organic milk.
That scenario has already played out in corn and canola, at least in some regions. A seed scientist at an organic seed company told me it's virtually impossible to find corn seed from the midwest that has avoided GM contamination. As a result, this company buys its organic corn seeds from a remote region of the Southeast. The same is true of rapeseed (canola) in Western Canada.

Most corn products today in the US, although nations in Europe,
have burned fields with GMO corn, contain Genetically Engineered
corn.
The FDA, our Food and Drug Administration, has been leading
the charge, engineered by the international Codex Alimentarius
Commission, to lead us toward the practice of medicine
that sees no danger in Big Pharma Drugs. They see Big Pharma
drugs as being our primary approach to health. If you feel a stomach ache,
go for some kind of Big Pharma Drug.
Foods for eons have been our medicine.
people are no longer are taught how to use food as medicine.
They are no longer taught that food is Sacred.
The application of Biotechnology to agriculture has many people
up in arms, although lives have been saved using some applications
of Biotechnology to medicine.
The rub is that The US Government, under the guidance of the
FDA and USDA, will not tell us if we are eating GMO foods.
This is why there is a massive push now to label GMO foods.
There is only one more person needed to create a TIpping Point
to make sure that GMO foods are labeled.
Are you that one last person who is needed?
I went to the University of Redlands to find that one last person.
I knew they were there praying to God.
A person who believed in Sacred Foods but did not know that
the cereals they may have eaten for breakfast at the ALEPH Kallah 2011
contained GMO ingredients was present.
This Plant Your Dream Blog is dedicated to alerting them
to the fact that they may no longer want to eat unlabeled breakfast
cereals.
The US Government believes that breakfast cereals containing
GMO ingredients are no different than any other conventionally grown
cereal. The only way to avoid GMO ingredients now is to eat
cereal that is specified to be 100 % organic, or to use a product
on your cereal that is verified by the Non GMO Project.
I found such verified products in the kitchen at the ALEPH Kallah 2011
served by the Bon Apetit staff.
One was SILK soy, that carries the Non GMO Certified label.
The dangers of GMO ingredients are still very much up for
research. Most funds that appear to say they are O.K. have
been funded by research sponsored by scientists who
are indebted to Biotechnology.
On the other hand we have reports of the Organic Center,
a non profit funded by the Organic Industry that suggests
that crop yields touted by the Biotech Ag may not be as
good as they presume to tell us.
Then there are people like Jeffrey Smith of the Institute
for Responsible Technology who are convinced that there
may be extreme dangers from eating some of these ingredients
in our cereals that go unlabled.
At the least people have a right to know, he believes.

ARRIVING IN THE PROMISED LAND
I went with AriellaShira Lewis And Gloria Krasno
twp ALEPH Kallah veterans.
I heard upon arrival at the University of Redlands,
through talking to the staff in the kitchen how they supported
Organic food, a cornerstone of Sacred Foods.
They bought local organic foods
from farmers. They had a farm right off campus
where the students grew organic food that the kitchen would
buy. It took determination to find the Farm. For future reference,
This treasure called the University of Redlands Sustainability Farm (URSF)
is located behind the Brockton Avenue Apartments
at the back far end of a fenced gate
within view of the Soccer Field.

of Grove Street and Blockton Avenue north of the

My spirit is asking that I rejuvenate the Sacred Food Project
This was on my list of intentions when I attended the final
couple days of the Kallah.
I knew that to make progress I would have to step through
some Original Pain Work reflected in a handful of relationships
I left uncooked at the Kallah back in 1997.
At the Kallah I saw a new generation of youth
that need to be supported now.
I made some new allies.
I am willing to do the Soul Growth
that I might continue to serve my purpose.

I felt the presence of Rabbi Aryeh Hirshfield, the former rabbi of Portland with me during my journey
to the Kallah. I took his CD with me. He was one of my favorite
Jewish Renewal rabbis, and died in the Ocean in January 2009.
I have permission of Beth Hirshfield to use music of
