CODE FOR AMERICA

Every new movement needs heroes.

Cities are under greater pressure than ever, struggling with budget cuts and outdated technology. What if, instead of cutting services or raising taxes, cities could leverage the power of the web to become more efficient, transparent, and participatory? What if, the professional talent in the tech industry went to work innovating the public sector? What if City Hall looked more like a start up?

It’s time to stop wondering, and start coding. It’s time to make it happen.

Code for America’s fellowship gives developers, designers, or product managers with a desire for public service an opportunity to build the next generation of Gov 2.0 apps for city governments. By leveraging your unique skill set, they will bring improved access to information and government accountability to the local level, and they will change the way citizens and cities work together.

Note: The application deadline for the 2011 fellowship has passed. Information about the 2012 program will made available later this year.

Why Become a CfA Fellow?
During the 11-month program, you will not only receive a living-wage stipend, travel expenses, and healthcare, but also the training and support to be positioned as a leader in business, public service, or both.

Alumni Connections. Working closely with other talented individuals, you will develop lasting professional relationships in a face-paced, startup atmosphere.
