Excellent article on why this study can not be relied on to validate vegetarianism.

Also: "Another important distinction that must be taken into account when discussing animal protein sources is the difference between raw and pasteurized dairy. When you heat a protein to the temperature required to achieve pasteurization you denature the tertiary and quaternary structure of the protein making it essentially a new molecule."

Greetings Evrim!
Thanks for inviting feedback!
The presentation by "Dr. T. Colin Campbell" on "The China Study" is simply a popular myth. See articles[i]
The reason I don't subscribe to the notion of a "100% PLANT-BASED?" is because it severely lacks a number of the most essential nutrients that are only available in animal products and most especially from ruminants raised on their natural pasture-fed diet. In particular the plants like fat soluble vitamins A, D, K.
Dr. Weston A. Price was in search of a vegetarian society when he toured around the world in the 30s and published his extensive findings[ii] from his research and field studies on a dozen isolated societies of people who relied exclusively on their traditional diets and did not find any that were "100% Plant-Based"! There is no ancestral wisdom that supports a "100% PLANT-BASED" diet.
I absolutely would never suggest a "100% PLANT-BASED" diet to any parent/guardian for feeding their children or to any mother-to-be in preparation for pregnancy. Full-grown healthy adults who do not have children or plan to can choose whatever diet they want and the impact of that won't necessarily have direct consequences for others but that's not the case with children - starting with the diet of the mother-to-be. In fact the societies that continued with their ancient dietary wisdom gave the mothers-to-be the very best diet rich with animal foods!
Dr. Joseph Mercola calls Dr. Weston Price "one of the most prominent health researchers of the 20th century".
Dr. Jonathan V. Wright says "Nutrition and Physical Degeneration" is "an absolutely basic book on nutrition and disease prevention, as relevant today as when first published, decades ahead of its time."
The health and very lives of our children as well as the future generations do not deserve dietary myths regardless of whether they are accepted as "politically correct".
Thank you for considering my feedback!
In Good Health!
