"Most people know the story of Heidi, the five-year old Swiss girl who lived high up in the Alps, drank raw goat’s milk, ate raw cheese and dark bread, and ran wild outdoors with her friend, Peter. Update of November 2010
The FDA and other supposed governmental agencies that have essentially declared war against the sharing/distribution of all raw milk are but minions in the big dairy game. It is time to call in the "Heidi Clan" to distinguish the very long standing tradition of raw milk as real food medicine as separate from the modern foods of commerce such as pasteurized milk. I am inspired to feature Heidi and her clan here as of today. I began with a Google Books search:

The author of Heidi, Johanna Heuser, was born on June 12, 1829 giving her the Five of Diamonds as her Birth Card. That card is called "The Seeker of Worth". "All Five of Diamonds ... want to accomplish something of value ...". Johanna did just that with Heidi! Whatever good may come of my efforts here will be with great gratitude to Johanna Heuser in memory of what she accomplished!

I had only known Heidi as a child through the movie version with Shirley Temple. Now that I am reading the on-line version at Google Books I immediately recognize that the life-style, that is depicted in this story, relates very well to what Weston A. Price discovered in 1931 and '32 in his journey into the Loetschental Swiss Valley (as documented in his Nutrition and Physical Degeneration) where he says: "... at a little less than a mile above sea level, a group of about 2,000 people had been made easily accessible for study, .... Practically all the human requirements of the people in that valley, except a few items like sea salt, have been produced in the valley for centuries. ... The people of this valley have a history covering more than a dozen centuries. ..." This is an important fact in understanding that virtually all their nutrition needs were very well met just from their own local foods and that a great part of these foods were all the raw dairy products! Heidi and her clan enjoy raw goat milk and raw cheese without fear of pathogens, just like Dr. Price observed among the people living in the Loetschental Valley ! Here is a wise tradition that has withstood time (and all the menacing of modern commerce as well as the employment of their minions in governmental agencies).
