The italics highlights in the copy below are the new responses to Lou Pritchett's letter to Pres. Obama; the first line is what Lou wrote originally. {I could not find out who wrote the responses, maybe someone out there knows? } The original Lou Pritchett "you scare me" letter can be found here> http://www.snopes.com/politics/soapbox/youscareme.asp Dear President Obama: You are the thirteenth President under whom I have lived and unlike any of the others, you truly scare me. You scare me because after months of exposure, I know nothing about you. I don’t think I know anything about you despite your years of public exposure because I don’t understand black people You scare me because I do not know how you paid for your expensive Ivy League education and your upscale lifestyle and housing with no visible signs of support. It seems you may have actually earned your way through school with scholarships and hard work and I don’t trust anyone who can’t be bought You scare me because you did not spend the formative years of youth growing up in America and culturally you are not an American. By American I mean that you aren’t white and so you can’t be trusted. You scare me because you have never run a company or met a payroll. I realize that most presidents have never run a company but it bothers me more in your case because you don’t seem to understand that this nation is actually run by corporations, not by people. You scare me because you have never had military experience, thus don’t understand it at its core. Once again, I know that the office of the president is a civilian post but I’m trying to change that so that our nation is directly run by the military. You scare me because you lack humility and ‘class’, always blaming others. You should have learned to stay in your place by now. Perhaps you could learn something of humility from President Bush who still can’t name one mistake he made as president. You scare me because for over half your life you have aligned yourself with radical extremists who hate America and you refuse to publicly denounce these radicals who wish to see America fail. By aligned with, I mean that you sat on committees with them or lived in the same neighborhood with them. I realize that nobody has been able to produce a single document that indicates that you hold any extremist positions, but your willingness to listen to others and to treat them with respect is positively un-American. You scare me because you are a cheerleader for the ‘blame America’ crowd and deliver this message abroad. You actually have the gall to admit that America isn’t perfect and that we haven’t always used our power wisely. You treat other world leaders as if they actually have some good ideas. This is clearly misguided. You scare me because you want to change America to a European style country where the government sector dominates instead of the private sector. The fact that most European nations have better educational systems, better healthcare, lower poverty levels, and lower infant mortality rates is not the issue here. We are America and we do things OUR way! You scare me because you want to replace our health care system with a government controlled one. Accessible medical care is NOT a right. It’s a privilege. It should always remain within the supply and demand system so that only the rich can access the best care. You scare me because you prefer ‘wind mills’ to responsibly capitalizing on our own vast oil, coal and shale reserves. Everyone knows that global warning will only really hurt the poor countries. It doesn’t matter if our energy habits make it impossible for the rest of the world to grow and flourish. Country first! You scare me because you want to kill the American capitalist goose that lays the golden egg which provides the highest standard of living in the world. First we lose slavery, the institution that built the wealth base in America, and now you want to put limits on capitalism. What next, are you going to tell us that we’re supposed to care that the standard of living in many nations is falling. You scare me because you have begun to use ‘extortion’ tactics against certain banks and corporations. You give them taxpayers’ money and then tell them they’ll have to stop giving out 100 million dollar bonuses to the people who led the banks into ruin. That’s just insane. You scare me because your own political party shrinks from challenging you on your wild and irresponsible spending proposals. Just because there wasn’t a single presidential veto during the first 6 years of president Bush’s time in office does not mean that the GOP-led congress wasn’t challenging the president. You scare me because you will not openly listen to or even consider opposing points of view from intelligent people. The fact that you have several Republicans in your cabinet doesn’t mean anything. The only way I’ll know you’re listening to the GOP leaders is if you do exactly what they tell you to do. You scare me because you falsely believe that you are both omnipotent and omniscient. I realize that this is one of the dumbest things anyone has ever written but I was running out of things to be “scared” about. You scare me because the media gives you a free pass on everything you do. And by the media, I mean MSNBC. I am patiently waiting for the entire world-wide media to see you the way I see you and to attack everything you say and do. You scare me because you demonize and want to silence the Limbaughs, Hannitys, O’Relllys and Becks who offer opposing, conservative points of view. Demonizing should be done exclusively by the Limbaughs, Hannitys, O’Reillys, and Becks. You should challenge yourself to treat these people with the same respect and dignity that they offer to you. You scare me because you prefer controlling over governing. I actually have no idea what I mean by this but it sounds indicting. Finally, you scare me because if you serve a second term I will probably not feel safe in writing a similar letter in 8 years. I’m afraid that you will have led the country out of the recession, ended the wars, provided healthcare for everyone, and launched a new “green” economy by that point and then I’ll just sound like an idiot.
