Following The Rabbit by #29621 .....

Some thoughts regarding what the appearance of the rabbit may be teaching us. It certainly has taught me!

The rabbit appears in "Alice in Wonderland" (published in 1865). He appears in 1967 in the old Jefferson Airplane recorded "White Rabbit" on their album "Surrealistic Pillow". In 1999 The Matrix refers to "the white rabbit", Alice, "tumbling down the rabbit hole" and lastly "I show you how deep the rabbit hole goes".

Earlier this year I attended a community showing of The Matrix primarily because it would be followed by group discussion. I participated and expressed interest for continuing the conversation. I then reread "The Four Agreements" and found the idea of "Domestication" to be a helpful reference for understanding how The Matrix works.

Continuing in thought along this path I recently realized that I'm a "rabbit"! I was born in the Chinese Year of the Rabbit. That got me wondering about the significance of the rabbit.

So I searched and found that:
"Rabbits are guides into the shadow world, where all of our personal fears lie. ..."

I have a 12th house (home of your shadow side) Natal Sun! The shadow is something I'm familiar with!

Now (Dec. 7. '09) I find: "'going down the rabbit hole' has become analogy for investigating something not readily apparent, like a conspiracy, and seeing where it leads."

I realize I do a lot of traveling down all kinds of rabbit holes!

Also - this evening (3-14-10) I am reading: "Once you have moved past your own individual karma, then you begin the heavier job of tackling the collective karma. For many of us, it appears a thankless and endless task! No matter how much goodwill and love we bring to bear, the rabbit-hole keeps opening up to deeper and deeper levels of discomfort and transformation."

Richard Rudd the founder of Gene Keys also speaks of bringing awareness into our shadows.

"... When the rabbit appears it is time to examine those deep reflexive fears that hold you back from growing. Do you keep dashing for the safety of your old patterns every time something new or challenging presents itself? If so the rabbit asks you to face your fears with compassion for yourself. Accept that it is part of human nature to feel fear at times, but also believe that our fears need not paralyze our growth and movement."

I've been examining "those deep reflexive fears" over the recent months. In one case you could say I saw the rabbit running through my behavior with a certain individual who unexpectedly was asking me questions which somehow triggered
(what I later realized was) an old behavior pattern (of immediately answering in a rather submissive way). That experience opened up a richly meaningful journey for me "down the rabbit hole" to see where that old behavior had originated. I very soon returned to that individual and shared some of what came up for me and my true choice about what I was seeing in myself. I made reference to my commitment to living "The Four Agreements". Especially "Be Impeccable With Your Word"! All the other three agreement related to this incident as well!

Having shared that I can now see "the rabbit" in the light of my own understanding and I tell you, that really feels good to me!

Blessings on our "Rabbit/s"
