Is anyone saying "Give Peace a Chance"?

So, another year is ending, and a new war has begun.
Two things: one is that the escalation of the Israeli-Palestinian war has less to do with rockets being fired into Israel from Gaza, and more to do with the upcoming Israeli election where the leaders who are most pacifist will NOT get the votes; and two, that Barack Obama will show total support for the Israeli side and their violent actions without regard for the Palestinian's concerns.
Mr. Obama, who, I am sorry to say, will become known as "The Great Disappointment", will be siding with Israel - "American allways does" is how one reporter blithely said it.
After all of Mr OBama's gracious words during the election campaign, and as he prepares to take office, will not be uttering any golden phrases such as "infinate compassion" where, even in the face of rockets causing 3 or 4 deaths of Jews living in Jeruselum, the Israeli government and it's people could try to forgive those rocket-firings and turn to their historical teachings and refuse to kill, and point out to the Arab side that their religion also teaches that killing is allways wrong.
There will be no American support for a "gracious, pacifist tactic" that would shame the Hamas rocket-firing vandals, and that would possibly even get some of the peace-loving Palestinians [there are some, yes] onside with the idea of accepting the state of Israel. A tactic like that would beget calls, at least by some Palestinians, to accept Israel as a neighbor, and to live in peace.
There will be nothing said by the Americans about Israel making an attempt to show that it can be a good neighbor.
That is the one tactic that has NEVER been tried. Israel has never given any signal that it understands the intrusion into the Palestinian lands when the official state of Israel was created. Likewise, the Palestinians have never shown that Israel has some legitimacy to have an official state in the area of Jeruselum, moreso that anywhere else in the world. Allways both sides have opted for violent retaliation whenever killings occured.
Shaming the other side by showing love just does not seem to occur to either side, despite their proclaimed religious backgrounds. Both religions have an edict that "thou shalt not kill", and in fact both sides have religions that say they should show love to the ones who kill. Both sides have allways acted like petulant teenagers and declared not only revenge, but also total annhilation of the other side, which is exactly what Israel has just said - "we will wipe Hamas off the face of the earth so there will be no more killing of our people". Ya, right, that is sure to end things. Not even a nuclear flattening of the entire region would end the retaliations, it would just go on somewhere else.
The only possiblity for peace is forgiveness; each side has to declare openly and publically that they are willing to lose more people that the other side. Each side has to WANT to lose more, so THEY can be the martyred ones. Retaliating in a way that is heavier than the other side's attack can only move things in one direction - more violence, and escalation of the war. There is no doubt that this is a cold hard fact.
It is only one segment of the Palestinian population - Hamas - that proclaims that Israel should not exist, and even that proclamation is wrapped in some literary garb. Israel, as I said above, also has a segment of it's population that demands the total annhiliation of Palestine.
Perhaps there is a third factor for this escalation of violence in the "Holy Land" - the winding down of the Iraqi war as Pres. Bush exits the White House. The need for continuous war... things were winding down, peace might have had a chance, and to some sectors of the world, that is just not acceptable.
Whatever the reason, the one thing that is not being tried is "To Give Peace a Chance".
Another year is over, and what has begun? A new state of war in Israel.
