Renewable Energy - Pay for it ONCE, and then its FREE by Karlin .....

Renewable energy puts out electricity for many years after the initial cost of setting it up is paid off.

Its a song I am working on, the last line of the chorus goes:
"Renewable energy - Pay for it ONCE, and then its Free"

And it is more-or-less true too, but it is not something the public is being made aware of. The big energy corporations, the ones you pay your gas and electric bills too, would rather that we KEEP paying.

What I am referring to in the phrase "and then its free" is that renewable energy installations, such as a wind turbine or a solar panel farm, will provide electricity for about 25 years after being set up - with no further costs other than small maintenance costs. So, once the initial cost of the wind turbine is paid off, the electricity it puts out is FREE. Coal-fired generators need a constant supply of coal, an expense that goes on as long as it operates.

It might seem like bad economics to avoid setting up something that would provide free energy, or any commodity, for free, but the reality is that they actually make more money from something that has high costs that they can pass on to the consumers.

Also, where coal-fired power plants are concerned, the same people who have to pay for the coal to shovel into the burners ALSO SELL COAL. And, they get rebates on the costs of using that coal to put into their burners. They get profits both ways.

Its "skewed economics" due to government interferance in the markets. Free market philosophy has never really been in play, Republican government or Democrat, it doesn't matter - the markets have allways been manipulated in favour of the big powerfull wealthy elites who own or manage the big energy corporations. And they DARE to complain about welfare recipients!!

Specifically, "PAY FOR IT ONCE AND THEN ITS FREE" - one example is a wind farm being proposed now in Canada - it will cost $320Million to set up, it will put out 132 megawatts of electricity at peak performance. It depends on how much the wind blows of course, but that has been carefull studied in the area where it is being set up, and they can expect at least 15 hours a day of ample winds to produce 1500Mw per day, and if they get only 10 cents per kilowatt hour for that electricity, earning them about $50Million per year, they will make their initial investment back in just 6 years.

THEN, its all gravy!!

If these wind farms were owned by the citizens who use the electricity, then after paying the same rates we are paying now for electricity, we could have FREE electricity for the next 20 years from a facility like this. Ahh, but thats socialism - and I LIKE IT!!! Nations such as Venezuela are doing this sort of thing, and they are doing better than America is now.

ALL the nations who have moved away from fossil fuels [oil gas, etc] such as Sweden and Denmark are seeing an improvement in their economy.

Futhermore, with renewable energy, there would be more JOBS - compared to the oil industry, for the same amount of energy produced by a project, renewable energy projects provide 10 times more jobs.

So, its all good. No pollution from electricity production, which would mean a big reduction in greenhouse gasses that are "mostly responsible" for global warming.

PAY FOR IT ONCE, AND THEN ITS FREE
